Leon Trask Obituary
Leon M. "Sonny" Trask Jr., 75, a lifetime resident of Readburn Rd., Walton, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008, at home after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Readburn on December 23, 1932, the son of the late Arthur Leon and Ruth (Perkins) Trask. Leon married Gertrude M. (Trudy) Black on August 11, 1962 in Fosterdale.
He was a graduate of Hancock Central School, class of 1950. He was employed as a farmer, truck driver, and logger. Leon loved hunting, snowmobile riding, and tinkering of all sorts.
Leon is survived by his wife, Gertrude M. "Trudy" (Black) Trask of Walton; three children: son and daughter-in-law, Leon Emerson and Melissa Trask of White Sulfur; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Scott Young of Hancock; and daughter, Clara Trask of Hancock; six grandchildren: Crystal Trask of Delancy, Austin Trask of East Branch, Ryan and Owen Trask of White Sulfur, and Tyler and Kelsey Young of Hancock; two sisters, Phyllis Schippel of New Milford, PA, and Linda Trask of Walton; a niece; a nephew, and several good friends. Leon was predeceased by two sons, Walter F. (Rick) Trask and David A. Trask.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, 29 E. Main St., Hancock, NY.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Dwight Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.
Memorial contributions can be made in Leon's memory to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 116 Main St., Delhi, NY 13753.
