Leslie Theodore Barrett, 80, formerly of New Hampton NY, passed away peacefully with family by his side, in Las Vegas NV on October 28, 2020. He was born on May 27, 1940 in Marron PA to John Theodore and June Wood Barrett. The family moved to Chester NY when Les was in his high school years. He was a graduate of The Chester class of 1959. He worked many years for Chester Packing and King Zac Industries.
Leslie was married to his loving wife, Doris Barrett for 30 years.They lived in New Hampton NY where they raised their four children. Les found much enjoyment hunting, fishing, growing his vegetable garden and listening to country music. He was often found visiting with friends and neighbors with whom he loved sharing many stories of his life and debating current events. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his final days he said " I have lived a long and full life and made many good friends along the way."
Leslie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris and his parents, John and June Barrett. Surviving are his children: Melissa Schiefelbein of Marion NC, Rebecca Martin and her husband, Brian of Cumming GA, Virginia Snyder and her husband, Barry of Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas NV, and Keith Theodore Barrett and his wife, Jacklyn; his grandchildren who he cherished: Samantha and Caitlin Schiefelbein, Andrew Laird and his wife, Annie, Zachary Laird and his wife, Brittanie, Tyler Laird, Marcus and Gabriella Snyder and Chase Nicholas Barrett; also his great-grandson, Andrew James Laird II; his siblings: Virginia Redden Barrett, Joyce Brewer and her husband, Kurt, Larry Barrett and his wife, Mary, and Vivian McArthur. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
A service was held on November 3, 2020 at LaPaloma funeral services in Las Vegas NV. A memorial service will be held at a future date in New York.
