It is with great sadness that the family of Lisa Austin Mueller announces her passing on April 19, 2021. She brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her, and will be deeply missed.
Lisa was born to Henry and Mary Austin on January 11, 1964, and was raised in Pearl River, New York. She dedicated her life in service to others, and particularly enjoyed caring for the elderly. This passion began when she worked at a retirement community before graduating from Pearl River High School, and led her to earn a Master of Social Work from Fordham University. She spent her career caring for elderly people in Rockland and Orange counties, and after her retirement, continued to do so as a volunteer for the Friendly Visitor Program in Warwick, NY.
Lisa's second passion was nature, which led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sciences from SUNY Purchase. She loved hiking, cycling, canoeing, gardening and especially her cats. She volunteered as a Trail Maintainer with the NYNJ Trail Conference for the Bluebird Trail at Storm King State Park.
She shared these passions with the love of her life, Werner Mueller, who she married November 7, 1999 at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. Together, they traveled the world and hiked, cycled and canoed through the Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Werner Mueller and a family core group that spent many hours enjoying each other's company including her stepdaughters, Rae Mueller and Lee Mueller; her sister, Kathryn Austin Masters of Saugerties, NY, brother, David Austin of Oxford, CT; nephews and niece Wesley, David and Claire Masters; sister and brother in-law, Sylvia Mueller and Rob Anderson and sons-in-law, Maarten Kluijver and Jake Triolo. She is predeceased by her parents.
A private burial will be held at a later date. Please send donations in lieu of flowers or any other considerations to: Warwick Humane Society, New Shelter Fund, P O Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990.

I'm so sorry to hear of Lisa's passing. We were in middle school and high school together. Although I haven't seen her since then, I remember her as a kind and caring person. My deepest sympathies to her family.

I worked with Lisa for several years at Elant in Goshen. She was a lovely person, and a fun-co worker. I lost contact with her many years ago and assumed she had left the Warwick area. I am so sorry to hear this news.
