I remember childhood Christmases at Lynn’s home. It was crowded and bustling with people I didn't know. She always had room for one more at the table even if that seat was someone resting on a stationary bike with their dinner plate (true story!).

I wasn't related by blood to Lynn but she is my Aunt. She was there for every holiday, birthday, dance recital and my confirmation. Auntie Lynn taught me how to skip, how to shuffle cards, and how to play just about every board game I know. But most importantly, she taught me to live my life authentically and not give a damn what other people think.

We always shopped together on Black Friday. She would declare we would "shop ’til we dropped!” There were no strangers at the mall. She would quickly become friends with anyone in earshot and part like old friends.

I've thought about her crossing over and what that might look like. Some books have illustrated a warm welcome to heaven from close friends and family. I think for Lynn she would have been met with an overwhelming crowd of love from her family and friends that she knew for her whole life and those she may have touched for only a moment but left an imprint in their heart forever.

It's not blood that makes you family. It's love. Auntie Lynn will forever be in my heart. Until we meet again... save a seat for me next to my brother and my dad.

Auntie Lynn, I can't believe you are gone. My heart is broken. You were always there for me, in my worst of times and best of times. I will forever love you and will always be grateful for all you did for me. My world will never be the same. Please hug my dad and brother for me in Heaven...I am sure they were waiting there for you. Soar with the angels and I know one day we will be reunited. XOXO Love, Kathleen & Matty Henzel
