Marie Meyer Obituary

Cochecton, NY

Marie M. Meyer, a longtime resident of Cochecton and formerly of Saddle Brook, NY, passed away at Catskill Regional Medical Center on March 30, 2009. She was 89.

She was born in New York City on March 30, 1920 to the late William and Minnie Roth Weingartner. She was the widow of Charles A. Meyer, who had passed away on September 18, 1997.

Marie was a member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Lake Huntington, NY. She was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a former member of Saint Philip the Apostle Church and there Rosary Society in Saddle Brook, NJ.

A family statement reads: "Marie enjoyed gardening, dancing, crocheting, visiting with her many friends, flying in her son's plane, swimming in the pond and was always a fantastic cook. She loved her three sons, three daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, but most of all, her husband of 54 years, her beloved Charlie."

She is survived by her three sons: Robert Meyer and his wife, Kathleen of Cochecton, NY, Charles Meyer and his wife, Mary Ann of Oak Ridge, NJ, and Stephen Meyer and his wife, Joanne of Oak Ridge, NJ; her ten grandchildren: Terri Devizzio, Kristen King, Melissa Butter, Charles Meyer, Jamie Lynn Meyer, Jessica Strauch, Shannon Chapman, Robert Meyer, Stephen Meyer and Michael Meyer; her 13 great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Meaghan, and Makayla King, Emily, Anthony and James Devizzio, Lilly Claire Meyer, Matthew and Joseph Butter, Bailey and Molly Chapman, Kailey and Riley Strauch; her brother, John Weingartner and his wife, Irene; Goddaughter, Debra Parisi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call today, Wednesday, April 1, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 2, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St., Narrowsburg, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Lake Huntington, NY, with Rev. William Scully O.F.M. officiating.

Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery, Cochecton Center, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church c/o St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, 151 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764 or the Town of Cochecton Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Inc., PO Box 4, Lake Huntington, NY 12752.
