Michael Sammartano Obituary

Michael F. Sammartano, 86, of Clintondale, N.Y. passed away December 20, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Mr. Sammartano was born in Rockford, Ill. on March 10, 1919, the son of Francesco and Mary Rotolo Sammartano. Until his retirement, he worked at Schatz Federal Bearing in Poughkeepsie. He served during World War II in the Hawaii Division of the Armed Forces. He was a life member of the Clintondale Fire Department and active in Community Action in Highland. His wife, Josephine, passed away in 1998.

He is survived by three daughters: Mary Ann and her husband, Robert Kelly of Marlboro, Deborah and her husband, Claude Mandia, of Cedar Park, Texas, Michele Sammartano of Clintondale, two sons: Frank and his wife Maria Sammartano of Highland and Daniel and his wife, Cathy McLinden of Pennsylvania, also three brothers, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sutton Funeral Homes, Inc., 305 Crescent Avenue, Clintondale, N.Y. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine R.C. Church, 55 Main Street, Highland. Burial will be in Lloyd Cemetery in Highland.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Clintondale Fire Department would be appreciated.
