Michele Fitzhenry Obituary

Middletown, NY

Michele Fitzhenry, a lifetime resident of Middletown, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown, NY, following a long illness. She was 53.

The daughter of Marjorie Downing and the late Samuel Weeden, she was born April 21, 1955 in Middletown, NY.

In 1994, she wed William J. Fitzhenry in Niagara Falls. She was a member of First Congregational Church, the Middletown BPW and 1199.

"Mikie", as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was easy to love. She had a bubbly personality and was beautiful on both the inside and out. Her caring, compassionate nature made her well suited as a nurse, and she loved her work. She encouraged and supported everyone she knew, and we will all cherish her memory."

Mikie is survived by her loving husband, William, at home; her mother, Marjorie and sister, Anita Radzinsky, both of Middletown; Aunt Dolores and Uncle Charles Moser of Hannibal, MO; cousin, Carole and her husband, James Olmedo; nephews, Daryl and Jared, and great niece, Kristen.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 27, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the funeral home. Deacon Richard Trapani will officiate. Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.

Michele was my devoted friend who always lifted me when I was down with kind words, a hug or her jokes.
We have lost her physical presence in our lives but she is now a star in heaven shining brightly down on us.
She is free of pain and for that I am grateful.
"Mish" will remain in my heart forever.

I worked with Michele back it the late 1980's. What I remember most was how deeply she cared for her patients. She was a pleasure to work with. She gave me a wonderful pasta bowl that I still have and use. May she rest in peace, sending my sincerest condolences to her loved ones.
