Mildred Resnick Obituary

Mildred Rothstein Resnick of Ellenville, N.Y. and Aventura, Fla., the loving wife of the late Louis Resnick, passed away on January 8, 2007 at age 90.

Mildred was born February 23, 1916 in Kerhonkson, N.Y., the sixth of seven children, she was raised on a farm in Kerhonkson, and moved to Ellenville when she and Louis Resnick were married on February 7, 1943. They raised their three daughters in Ellenville N.Y. while starting Channel Master Corporation.

A philanthropist, community activist and devoted Democrat she was a major force in numerous community activities, among which were SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Delhi, Ulster County Community College, and Yeshiva Zichron Moshe.

For 40 years, Mildred and Lou were dedicated to the Ellenville Regional Hospital; they were there at the beginning and recently with their support the hospital was able to break ground on the new state-of-the-art Emergency Department. As a gift for her 90th birthday, the Hospital Board honored her by naming the Women's Health Center after her.

Mildred was the devoted mother of three daughters who survive her: Myrna Jargowsky and her husband, Harold Jargowsky, Sheryl Ronan and her husband, Michael Ronan, and Michele Cohen and her husband, Martin Cohen. She was "Meme" to most but especially to her grandchildren: Stacy Jargowsky and David Jargowsky and his wife, Pauline O'Connor; Amy Aini and her husband, Jacob Aini, Kerry and Torey Ronan; Todd, Adam, Mollie and Barrie Cohen; loving great-grandmother of Joseph, Jared, Elyse and Jaqueline Aini; and Camryn and Jordan Ronan; beloved "Aunt Mil" to her nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law to Marcia and Harry Resnick; Pauline Rosenblum and Ruth Resnick.

"She was a special friend to most who knew her and unforgettable to all who had met her."

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, January 10, at 1 p.m. in Congregation Ezrath Israel, Rabbi Eisner Square, Ellenville, N.Y. Burial will be in Ezrath Israel Cemetery, Route 209 Wawarsing, N.Y.

Not sure what to say?

Dagmar Mielisch Yaddow

My sincerest sympathy to you Myrna, Harold and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Resnick, and Arnold (my 1960 Classmate).....your Mom and Sister and Aunt Mildred was a "second-to-none Very Special Lady" and made the world a better place of those of us having had the privilege to have known her. Her Genteel Spirit and Brilliant Smile could light up the gloomiest place and bring hope to broken hearts giving them the sense of purpose necessary to "go on with life" despite the odds.

I have a personal 'THANK YOU' to say because it was through the generosity of the Resnick Family that I was chosen to be the First Channel Master Full Scholarship Recipient at my graduation from High School in 1960. Then, when Wayne and I got married in 1969, she remembered us with a gift as well. Although my husband never met her, he certainly feels to this day that Mrs. Mildred Resnick has been an "angel" in our lives.
Wishing the entire Resnick Family condolences at this time of loss of a wonderful and beloved Lady.....may the memories help to ease the hurt.

Sincerely,

Marcia Doscher

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for all of you in the loss of your loving mother and grandmother. Her loyal support of my ministry during my 16 years as pastor of the Ellenville UMC was always a special gift and blessing to me. To say she was a "great lady and a generous spirit" is to understate her presence in so many different places and ways.

You are in my prayers today and in the days ahead.

Sincerely,
Rev. Barbara Ibarra
