Minerva Strand Obituary

Minerva "Min" Olsen Strand, age 85, of New Paltz died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston.

Mrs. Olsen Strand was born January 16, 1921 at Brooklyn, N.Y. the daughter of the late Aristomenis and the late Pepitsa (Stavrianakous) Takis.

She was a member of Reformed Church of Gardiner, Sons Of Norway, Hudson Valley Chapter.

Minerva was employed by Freeport School System, Freeport, Long Island, N.Y., as a teachers assistant. She married Olaf Olsen, who predeceased her in April of 1986. She later married Peter Strand, who also predeceased her in August of 2001.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Kenneth and Leslie Olsen of Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.; daughter and her husband, Carol and Bruce La Monda of Shokan; daughter, Kathryn Adams of New Paltz; her sister, Helen Vecchione of New Paltz; granddaughters, Kristin and Keri Olsen; grandsons, Michael and Kevin La Monda; grandsons, Beau and Brandon Gardner; grandsons, Peter and John Adams; great grandchildren, Nicky and Dana La Monda; Emily and Joseph Gardner, great grandchildren, Jace Gardner, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. at the Reformed Church Of Gardiner, Route 44/55, Gardiner with Rev. Gary Sissel, Pastor will officiate.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.

Memorials may be made to Reformed Church of Gardiner Steeple Fund, Gardiner, NY.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz.
