Franklin, VA
Franklin, VA – Nial Paul Edwards, Sr., 71, passed away after an extended illness on June 18, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Liberty, New York and a resident of Virginia for the last 17 years, he was a son of the late Jesse Loren Edwards and Bertha Stickle Edwards. Nial was also predeceased by three sisters: Loretta Noren, Doris Painter, and Sarah Sennett, and a brother, Douglas Edwards.
Nial was a carpenter and a member of Holland Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita VanAken Edwards; his four children: Nial P. Edwards, Jr. (Kimberly), Tina Wallace (Joseph), Kenneth A. Edwards (Megan), and Joann McKenny (Horace); two sisters, Berthann Apple (Larry) and Sandra Edwards; three brothers: Robert Edwards (Mary-Jean), Roger Edwards, (Nancy), and Donald Edwards (Elaine); eight grandchildren: Jacob Edwards, Brian Edwards (Claire), Evan Edwards, Christina Reilly, Jesse Wallace, Zachary Edwards, Meredith Edwards, and Brent McKeon (Danielle); and a great-grandson, Wesley James Edwards.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 23 at The Hayden Village Community Center, 680 Oak St., Franklin, VA with Pastor Tony Dunn officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 26 at 18 Loretta Dr., Neversink, NY with Pastor Paul Minton officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Holland Baptist Church, 6519 Holland Rd., Suffolk, VA 23437.
