Patricia Powers Obituary

Patricia "Patty" Powers
July 1, 1948 - March 25, 2021
Bullville, NY
Patricia "Patty" Powers, a lifelong resident of Bullville, NY, devoted wife, mom and grandma, entered into rest on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 surrounded by her adoring family. The daughter of Ann and Fullerton (Babe) Barber, III, she was born on July 1, 1948 in Middletown, NY.
Patty was an avid NY Yankees Fan and loved Tweety Bird! She also enjoyed attending car shows, especially in one of her and Doug's antique car or truck. Patty's favorite vacation was at Myrtle Beach, SC in their motorhome.
Patty was loving, funny, and had the biggest heart on earth. She is a second mom to many since she would love all of her family's friends as if they were her own. She loved to sing and dance and was always the life of the party! She married her best friend and soulmate, Doug after she captured him with her infamous whistle. They married on April 3rd, 1966, just two weeks before Doug went to serve in the Vietnam War. Patty and Doug would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary next week! Patty was a former telephone operator and then cook at the former "Heritage" adult home before leaving to spend retirement years with Doug after his own retirement (she wasn't at retirement age but wasn't letting him retire without her!)
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was an avid bowler on the Wednesday night league at the old "Hoe-Bowl" in Walden, NY. Patty was a former member of the Bullville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, as well as member of the Bloomingburg VFW Post 4947 Ladies' Auxiliary. Of her many accomplishments, she took the most pride in her family. They were always first in her life as wife, Mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished everyone that came into her family. Our hearts are broken, and her spirit will live on with all of us forever.
Patty is survived by her loving husband, Doug at home; children, Wendy Spano and husband, Sam of Bluffton, SC, Dougie and wife, Sandy of Messena, NY, Tammy Jollie and husband, Brad of Bullville, NY, and Chris and wife, Lindsey of San Clemente, CA; ten grandchildren: Danyel Winters and husband, Shane, Stephanie Sanders and husband, Michael, Samantha "Nay Nay" Jollie, Brad Jollie,II and partner, Courtney, Alexander Jollie, Laurel Jollie, Justine Gardner and husband, Dave, Dustin Powers and wife, Tara, Matthew Powers, and Meagan Powers, as well as nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: brothers, Randy Barber and wife, Pam, Bobby Barber and wife, Margie, and sister, Debbie Gesztesi. In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Patty was predeceased by her brothers, Rodney and Brian; sister, Karen; and infant grandson, Andrew.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org or local Veteran's Association.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 29 at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY, with a brief memorial service at approximately 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Gabriel Morro officiating. A graveside service will take place at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 31 at Orange County Veteran's Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
