Patricia Kathleen Shaw of Port Jervis, NY died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was 69.
Patricia was born November 8, 1951 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of Dennis and Marion DeGroat.
She was married to Gene Shaw on October 10, 1987.
Patricia worked as a Home Health Aide for Access Support in Middletown, NY for 21 years.
She was the VFW – past auxiliary president of post 161, as well as the previous VFW auxiliary District 2 state of New York president. Patricia and Gene fostered many children throughout the years.
A family statement read: She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. She had a big heart and will always be remembered for giving selflessly to help anyone who needed help.
Surviving are her loving husband, Gene Shaw, at home; her daughter, Dawn Smith and her husband, Homer Smith of West Nyack, NY; her son, Gary Conklin and his partner, April Blaut of Myrtle Beach, SC; her stepchildren, Jackie Shaw Burriesci and husband, Anthony Burriesci, and Gene Shaw Jr. and his wife, Jo Shaw; her father, Dennis DeGroat of Port Jervis, NY; her loving siblings; her grandchildren: Julianna, Madison, Logan, Alexa, Eliana, Tyler, Terron, Xander, Freyja, Anaxander, Valerie, Charlotte, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Patricia is predeceased by her mother, Marion DeGroat and her stepdaughter, Tamara Shaw.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, February 22 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 23 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23 at the funeral home with Pastor Diane Sommers officiating. Burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
Memorial contributions in Patricia's name may be made out to New York Branch of the VFW National Home for Children, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 and call 866-483-9642.
