Paul Georgini Obituary
Marlboro - Paul Georgini, 87, of North Young Ave., Marlboro, died Thursday in the Vassar Bros. Hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was husband to the late Frances Z. Georgini. Born in Berlin, Conn., he was the son of the late Giovanni and the late Vittoria (Carreri) Georgini. Paul Georgini, a life-long educator in the Marlboro Central School District, entered into rest on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the age of 87. Mr. Georgini began his career as a teacher in Champlain, N.Y. In 1948, he began his career in the Marlboro Central School District as an English teacher at Marlboro High School, where he is still recognized as an outstanding English teacher by his students and peers. In 1955, Mr. Georgini became the assistant principal at Marlboro High School. In 1958 he became the high school principal, as well as district supervising principal. In 1974, the title of Superintendent of Schools was officially bestowed upon him when the district reached 2000 students. From 1958 - 1976, through his foresight and leadership, Mr. Georgini was the architect of the Educational Institution of the Marlboro School District. He retired in 1976 and began to focus on his love of traveling around the world. On September 15, 2005, the Marlboro High School Media Center was renamed The Paul Georgini Media Center. Mr. Georgini's professional life was always dedicated to the students of the Marlboro School District. Mr. Georgini was a member of NIDO in Poughkeepsie. He was a world traveler, election inspector, NYSUT, an honorable member of the Knights of Columbus, and he never stopped learning. Survivors include his nephews: Francis E. Shekosky of Connecticut, James Shaw of California; nieces: June Dressing of Connecticut and Marie Grace of Connecticut; grandnieces and nephews: Cynthia Peterson, Karen Lee, Francis P. Shekosky; longtime companion and best friend, Clara Austin of Newburgh; Clara's daughters, Kathi Justino of Newburgh and Julia Darrigan of Japan. He was known as Great-Grandpa to Triesta and Stephen Justino. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Zaves Georgini in 1993. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at Our Lady of Mercy, River Rd., Roseton, N.Y. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lattintown Rd., Marlboro, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
