Roy Gill Obituary

Port Jervis - Roy W. Gill, age 90, a lifelong resident of the area, and retired Electrician, for the Erie Railroad, Port Jervis, passed away Friday, October 19, 2007, at Biloxi VA Hospital, in Biloxi, Miss.

The son of the late Richard and Ethel Lewis Gill, he was born in Port Jervis on December 2, 1916. He was married first to the late Betty Schoonover and second to the late Constance V. Evans Gill.

He is a member of the Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328 F. & A.M., he is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a former member of the 305th bomb unit. He was also a member of the Port Jervis Fire Department.

He is survived by two sons, Victor Gill and his wife, RuthAnn of Gulfport, Miss., and Roy W. Gill of Great Falls, Mont.; several stepchildren; his sister, Doris Hall of Port Jervis; two brothers, James Gill and his wife, Ethel of Port Jervis, and Robert Gill of Dumont, N.J.; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 24, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Inc., 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771; 845-856-3312, with the Rev. Robert Mayer officiating. Interment will take place at Lackawaxen Cemetery, Lackawaxen, Pa.
