Ruth Cote Obituary

Ruth C. Cote, of Newburgh, a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest Monday, November 7, 2005 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.

Daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Moore Calyer, she was born February 1, 1926 in Newburgh.

She was married to the late Gordon Cote, who predeceased her in 1986.

Ruth worked for her dear friend, Dr. William Howley in Newburgh for several years.

Survivors include her ten children: Barry Schuyler and his wife, Jodi, of Newburgh, Steve Schuyler and his wife, Toby, of Woodstock, David Schuyler of Lancaster, Pa., Ann Walsh and her husband, John, Paul Schuyler and his wife, Rachel, Mary Beth Higgins and her husband, Wilbur, Ruth James and her husband, Joe, Peter Schuyler and his wife, Beatriz, Brian Schuyler and his wife, Christine, and Andrew Schuyler and his wife, Liliana, all of Newburgh; her grandchildren: Dan, Joseph, Chloe, Nancy, Meghan, Tim, Lauren, Maureen, Jack, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Stephanie, Zachary, Alex, Andrew and Juliana; four great-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Sophia and Maria; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her very much.

She was predeceased by her brother, Bill Calyer and her daughter-in-law, Marsha Sener Schuyler.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8 at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9 in St. Mary's Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.

Memorial contributions on Ruth's behalf may be sent to St. Mary's Church, 180 South St., Newburgh, NY 12550; the American Cancer Society, 419 E. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940; or Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
