Even though we haven't seen one another in many years, Carolyn, I was always so happy to hear the updates from Gene and Carol Ann on what has been going on in your lives. Everything was just amazing. As you probably recall, my girls, Maria and Donna, were born in the same years as Tommy and Bobby. Your boys have grown with my girls. I was always so happy and proud to hear of all the wonderful achievements your boys made. Most of all, I always admired what a close and loving relationship you had with your sons. Just the thought of your loss is too painful to bear. I still feel the pain of that terrible day when I received the sad news. Carolyn, your wonderful memories will never fade. Bobby neds you now, more than ever. Tommy will live on in everyone's hearts. I pray for you all that somehow you will find peace. Tommy leaves a legacy of love in all that he did and whomever he touched in his life here on earth. God grant Tommy and all of you peace in your hearts. Our love and deepest sympathy to all of you.

I never really knew my cousin Tom very well, but I knew that he was a wonderful person. I grew up knowing Tommy and Bobby as "The Big Boys" because they were always so tall. I have always enjoyed family get togethers at Christmastime, because that was when I got to see most of my cousins. This past family get together I remember having a wonderful conversation with cousin Tommy and now as I look back I am so glad that I had that chance to talk with him. I am going to miss him a lot and he will always be in my heart.

Years ago Carolyn, I had the pleasure to begin hearing your life stories about your two boys. Meeting your Tommy first, years ago on the Hudson, where his smile brightened our day. Immediatly you know he's good. I understood your stories so much better. Thomas is thoughtful, fun, easy to be with, kind, and sincere. I have been blessed to hear many more stories of Bobby and Tommy. Finally Carolyn and my dad marry and I'm able to witness seeing the brothers together to help complete the beautiful picture I have in my mind. The picture is still vivid, only I now have tears streaming down my face, falling to the keyboard as I type, trying to understand how you go on Carolyn. How do you find your big smile again with your incredible zest for life? Bobby, listening to you speak that night, only a few weeks ago, I realized the magnitude of Tommy's passing and the incredible connection you and your brother have shared. I know a tiny piece more of what the death of your brother really means. I listened to you Carolyn, anticipate your tomorrows without your first born son. I can hardly imagine how your days go by. I bet it's hard to believe the next day comes and the sun comes up. My heart goes out to you. I cry for your loss, with hope that you stay strong and remember that we are remembering your sweet son, and your brother with so much love and respect.

Bless you, Andi

CAROLYN (MY STEP-MOTHER) BOBBY AND DAD, WHEN YOU TWO MARRIED, HOW THRILLED I WAS FOR YOU BOTH. IN AN INSTANT MY FAMILY GREW! A STEP MOTHER, AND 2 STEP BROTHERS! NEVER HAD BROTHERS AND IT FELT GOOD TO JUST BE LIKED BECAUSE OF WHO MY DAD FELL IN LOVE WITH. UNCONDITIONAL FEELINGS ARE GREAT. I LOOKED FORWARD TO GETTING TO KNOW YOU BOTH AND NOW YOU BOBBY ARE STUCK WITH ME. I DO WISH I HAD GOTTEN TO KNOW THOMAS, BUT LIFE TURNS IN WAYS THAT ARE OFTEN UNEXPLAINABLE. THROUGH STORIES, PICTURES, LAUGHTER AND TEARS I'LL GET TO LEARN MORE ABOUT TOMMY AND YOU'LL KEEP HIM WITH YOU FOREVER WITH YOUR LOVE AND WONDERFUL MEMORIES. THIS KIND OF A LOSS IS THE MOST CRUEL, BUT ONE DAY YOU'LL FIND THAT SMILE COME ACROSS YOUR FACE AGAIN. LUCKILY TIME IS ON OUR SIDE AND WITH TIME COMES HEALING. ALL MY LOVE, BETH

Dear Uncle Tom, Aunt Carolyn and Bob,

We are deeply sadden by the passing of Tom. I can not begin to imagine how hard the loss of Tom has been on you. It seems like yesterday we were all together at our family reunion discussing old times. This is something which, I and my family look foward to every time we visit in N.Y. It shows a strong sense of values all of which Tom had. Tom will be greatly missed, but will always be in our thoughts and prayers. God bless and we look forward to our next meeting. Love James, Loren, Matthew and Anna.

It's hard to put into words what a loss this has been. Tommy touched my life on more than a few occasions at the annual Carroll gatherings. He always offered a kind comment or a funny remark to get the party started. Tom set an amazing example for all of his loved ones, and for those he only knew briefly. He will always be remembered and respected as a great individual.

For Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Mike, Bob & the Carroll family,

I had only met Thomas a few times; never for very long. Enough time to see how handsome and personable he was but sadly not enough to claim I knew him personally. However, in the 10 years or so that Carolyn has been a part of my life our conversations have always included updates on her "boys". She always spoke of them with such love and pride. Such a beautiful relationship between Carolyn, Tom and Bob!!

We will never forget your son/brother. He will live forever in our hearts through your memories and ours.

We love you,

Dee, Rand & R.J.

Carolyn,

You found me a place to live where I feel safe and peaceful. How I wish I could bring you comfort and peace in return. Although I never got to meet Thomas, I could hear the love you felt for both your boys shine through when you spoke of them. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this difficult time. I hope happy memories of your beloved Thomas will eventually lessen your pain.

Where do I begin with someone like Tom? Tom you were like an older brother to all of your cousins. We always enjoyed your company for every holiday and party. I always enjoyed listening to all the different stories you had to tell us. Thanks for always letting us know where in the city to stay away from so we didn't get in any trouble, but like you said all the time, "I don't need to tell you guys anything because you don't do anything stupid anyway, right?" Tom you were an amazing individual and we will miss you greatly and you will always be in our prayers. Love cuz steve

Dear Tom, Carolyn, and Bob,

I have known the Caroll family for so long my strongest images of Tommy are of a young boy and his little brother doing everything together on our camping trips. They were always laughing. That is the image of Tommy that will be forever etched in my memory. I am at a loss for words except to say my heart aches for the entire family and you are all in my prayers.

Carolyn, Bobby & Mike,

Although Thomas didn't stop by the office too often, I felt like I knew him well. Why not, all we ever talk about besides real estate is our kids.I remember thinking,at your wedding, how proud and happy you must have been to have your two "big" guys by your side.Always remember those many, many happy times you shared throughout your lives.

As for Jim,Thomas comes to mind when thinking of Christmas. He remembers how the 3 of you searched for that "perfect" Christmas tree, and how your sons always took home the one you really wanted, Carolyn.

We can't imagine the loss of such a wonderful son or special brother. We will keep you in our prayers.

Tommy is someone who will never be forgotten. My cousins and I always enjoyed Tommys company. He would be the life of the party and always have stories for us about the intersting people he encountered while working on the streets of NYC. Graduation parties were by far TOmmys favorite and he wouldnt miss one for the world. He was always able to entertain everyone around him and his presence will be missed by all. I was privelaged to have Tommy as a cousin and my thoughts and prayers will be with him forever.

Tom, Bob & Carolyn,

I can't let this book close without my expression of loss, sadness, emptiness & most of all love.

Our worlds were turned upside down, the natural order of things is not supposed to work this way. Tom left us way to soon but he left us with a presence that will stay with us forever. He was sharp in every sense of the word; he was sensitive, just think about he related to all of us; he was driven, look at his accomplishments within the NYPD; he had it together, look at the direction he provided to my guys and most of all he was one of us and that can never leave.

He has brought us all closer together, he has made us stop and think about who we are and what we are doing, he has made us conscious of all that is good and he is driving us to strive for good always and when we do that in his memory he will always be with us. What better legacy could he leave us.

There is never enough you can say or enough you can do except for all of you to know we are always here for you. Always!

Tom, Bobby & Carolyn:

We all miss Tommy very much and will continue to miss him forever. We all have such great and fond memories of him at all our family gatherings. These great and vivid memories of him will be with us forever. He was so much loved by us all. I have some of Tom's clothes that you provided in my closet. It makes me very sad to look at them, but it is very good that I have these things that can continually remind me of him. When I wear his things, people sometimes say to me, "that is a nice shirt, etc." I make sure to tell them where the clothing came from because I am proud to tell people about my wonderful nephew, Tommy Carroll.

So many memories. It seems like yesterday that we were hanging out in the backyard shooting cans with the famous potato cannon, lounging by the pool, playing skeet ball in Myrtle Beach, or standing on the corner watching the bagpipes pass at the st. patties day parade. You were the life of the party and at the monthly, or sometimes bi monthly gatherings, we (my brothers, cousins and myself) always looked forward to hearing about the latest story you were willing to tell us about life with the NYPD. You and Bob were like our big brothers, always passing on words of wisdom and at times helping us out when we happened to get in over our heads. Tom you will be greatly missed, but in no way, shape or form will you ever be forgotten. You will always be in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Tom has always and will always be a role model for me. I am impressed with everything that Tommy has done with his life. He was a great cousin, a great cop, and a great human being. I will miss him dearly.

How do I start to tell you how I feel about Tom, he is like a son to me, someone that my boys will always look up to. His smile would lite up a room. We always knew the party could start after Tom and Bobby were there. He built a foundation for his cousin Dan and I know he will do his best to fill those shoes. We enjoyed hearing about all his stories about his job and were so proud how fast he accomplished all he did in such a sort time. Tom you will never be forgotten, because you are with us in our hearts forever. Love Aunt Jane

Tom was a great man and a wonderful cousin. When i remember him, I see him sitting in the big float in my Aunt's pool. I loved being with him at our family gatherings. He was so fun to be around. He was a very loving and caring man. I will always remember his big smile and the great stories he told us. I will miss you always, Tom.

Cousin Danny Bradbury

February 22, 2005

At family gatherings I would always sit at the edge of my seat waiting to see my cousin Tom to walk in the door and hang out and to find out how he likes being a police officer. I always admired Tom because he was a police officer and I want to grow up to be exactly like him. I was always dreaming that one day we will be together fighting crime side by side. I miss you Tommy and will always remember you when I am taking my police exams.

Tommy was the best cousin and nephew one could ever ask for. The only wish that Aunt Jane and I have is that our boys will grow up to be just like Tommy and Bob. Tom's smile, sense of humor, kindness and genuineness only complimented his good looks and style. Tommy has such a wonderful personality, he could talk to anyone about anything. A family get together was not complete without Tom and Bob in attendance. It is the only way we could count on all the other kids being there, because Tommy and Bobby were the star attraction. It was the first question we would be asked, "Are Tom and Bob coming?" St. Patrick's Day Parades in Pearl River became a tradition, as did viewing the 4th of July Fireworks from Jane Smith's backyard. The summer was the best because we could always count on graduation and pool parties and listen to Tom's stories about the job. We would constantly kid him about Dan and how he was going to be his sidekick. We have wonderul memories of Tommy and we will hold him dear to our hearts forever.

To Uncle Tom, Aunt Carolyn, and Bob

Tommy is someone who will never be forgotten. The family gatherings will never be the same. TOmmy always had stories for us about encounters he had cruising the streets of NYC which may have been some of the funniest stories we have ever heard. He would always give us advice on how to get off of speeding tickets and how far we could actually push the law without getting in trouble. IF there was one thing Tommy loved it was the graduation parties. We have had one for the last three summers and there was no way Tommy would miss one. We all enjoyed his company and it will be hard to go on without him. Tommy meant so much to so many people and our thoughts and prayers will be with him forever.

Dear Carolyn,Tom,Bobby and all the Carroll Family,

Terry and I have known the Carroll family since our children were small. We camped, spent New Year eve's together for years. The loss of Tommy has affected our family as it would have if Tommy was our son. Carolyn and Tom were the kind of parents that you would strive to be. Their sons played, worked at times together and were as close as two brothers could possibly be.

The sadness we feel is beyond our ability to explain in writing. Our hearts ache for Carolyn, Tom, Bobby and all the Carroll family. Tommy will be in our hearts and prayers forever.

I feel like a flame inside me has burnt out forever. My heart is broken and I miss him terribly. I treasure our childhood memories and the pride I felt knowing he was protecting my city. I find comfort believing he is watching over us from Heaven, and feel blessed to have had such a sweet, kind, and generous person in my life. Everytime I drink an Apple Martini, I will toast Tom, and remember the fun time we had at a party where I introduced him to this cocktail. St. Patrick's Day in Pearl River will never be the same.

Keep them all laughing in Heaven, Tom!! All my love and prayers to Carolyn, Tom, Bobby and the entire family. God Be with you!

I used to see Tom in the city all the time with the NYPD and he would warn me about what was happening with the rallies and things of that nature, especially when we were at war with Iraq. He would yell my name out and all I remember is seeing his smile. It was comforting to see a familiar face among the crowded streets of NYC. He is deeply missed- I will always see Tom when I look at Bob. My heart goes out to Tom's family, especially Bob, because where Tom was, Bob was not far behind. The two of them are like family- they have been friends with my brother Joey for a long time.I don;t think I will ever forget Tom, he used to tease me and my sister Kristen all the time, he was like another older brother for us.I hope that he knows how much we loved him and that we would have been there for him no matter what happen.

I don't even remeber when I met both Bob & Tom, I was young. My older brother, Joey, was friends with them. When the time came that I was old enough to go out, Tom never treated me like Joey's little sister. We would tease & make fun of each other. Over time Tom became my friend too. I will miss his easy smile and they way he used to make me laugh. To my brother Joey - I pray for you, for the loss of your great friend. Bob - My heart always aches b/c I know you are missing your other half. To Tom's parents - you are always in my prayers. God bless you all and Tom may you rest in peace... Since your death, St. Anthony, the Lord has worked countless wonders

and answered countless people's prayers because of your loving prayer for them. Those who have experienced the power of prayer offered through you have told how God was pleased to help them in their need, restoring peace of mind, healing the sick, finding what was lost, spiritual or material. Now in our need we ask you to pray for each of us that we may continue to share in God's loving care and protection and through you be drawn to eternal life. Amen.

I was very, very sorry to read Thomas' story. I pray that he will soon be vindicated.

While my family and I live in Southern California, I too graduated from Burke Catholic HS (1980).

I am sure that our Lord has already welcomed Thomas into His Kingdom where there is NO sorrow.
