DEAR GODSON TOM, KATE AND EMILY :
HOW QUICKLY OUR LIVES COME AND GO. MY MEMORY GOES AS FAR BACK TO CHANGING TOMMY'S DIAPER IN CANARSIE, BROOKLYN WITH ANN MARIE AT MY SIDE. We are so sorry for this devastating loss of our Uncle Tommy. He was an example to all of us that his love was stronger than his pain. Tommy had been through a lot in his life, but no matter how bad it got, he always showed his love through his actions. We will always hold Tommy in a special place in our hearts. This is a very sad loss and hard time for the family and anyone who knew him. Our Deepest Sympathy's....
Love always,
Josh, Gina, JJ, & Devante.

My brother Tommy was my hero. He saved me from drowning in cold, icy waters when we were both teens and risked his own life. He gave me a second chance at life. We Malinas are a very close family---when one hurts, we all hurt; when one feels joy, we all feel it. I could not be in New York for Tommy's services because I have serious health problems and am scheduled for surgery tomorrow. I am there in spirit for Tommy, my family, and friends. Tommy will always be missed but will remain a part of us forever.
love,
Jay

I wanted to express my appreciation for all the help Tom gave me with the Vacation Bible School program which was held each summer at Hopewell. Tom did whatever I asked of him. I truly feel VBS could not have been the success it was without the work of many, including Tom and Kate. And so, If I am too emotional tomorrow to speak at the service, please know you have my deepest appreciation and gratitude. Rest peacefully Tom.

I will always remember Tommy for his kind heart, easy going nature, and his natural appreciation for life and all living things. He was a joy to be around and had a way of making everyone feel valued. I am sure that Tommy knows we are here for Kate, Emily, and Rose (Tommy's mother) and all the Malina family, immediate and extended.
love,
Judy

Tommy was my older brother. If it weren't for him when he saved me from drowning in the icy, raging, waters when we were in our early teens and putting his own life in danger, I would not be alive today. So from that day, he gave me a new beginning. My family is one of the closest families I know. When one hurts, we all hurt. When one is happy, we are all happy. I could not make the trip to New York for the funeral as I am very sick and going into surgery in 2 days, but Judy and I are there in spirit. My love for Tommy will be there till my dying day. We will miss you!
love, Jay and Judy

Tommy - The cousin who took the time to teach me boy games when I was very young - cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, war games. You had the gift of sharing family history which was a welcome treasure. Go with God and rest in peace. May love and memories sustain Kate, Emily, your mom Rose and all of your siblings and their families.
Love, Cousin Lisa

I have not seen Tom, Kate or Emily since Emily was a baby - my dad Gene Sigler worked with Tom at McLean's Trucking when I was a little girl. I remember a huge BBQ in your backyard - Kate showing me her really cool sewing machine, Emily cute as a button in her baby bouncer, and Tom laughing with my dad - teasing one of their buddies. Your family is one I have always had fond memories of - people who have been dear to my heart even though time and distance has taken us apart. My heart and prayers go to you Kate, and Emily - I pray you find comfort and solace - I believe Tom is among the angels - his spirit was very uplifting. I remember his smile well - and the love he had for you and Emily shown in his eyes enough to make a lasting impression on a very young girl. Love & Light, Renee - Gene & Phyllis Sigler's daughter

Dear Kate, Emily, and family;
My heart aches for you. I have always thought of Tom as timeless, and I believe he will continue to be just that. There has been no one else like Tom - truly unique among men and always true to himself. Tom, you will be dearly missed by so many. Thank you for the joy in knowing you and sharing your quick laugh, easy spirit, helping hand, and reflective laid-back philosophies.
My deepest sympathy to you, my dear friend Kate. I wish you and Emily peace and comfort in the months to come.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.
