Warner P. Hein, Jr., age 44, of New Paltz died Monday, December 31, 2007 at home. He was 44.

Mr. Hein was born November 3, 1963 in Washington, DC the son of Warner Hein, Sr. and Roseann (Patrizzo) Hein. He was raised in the Esopus area. He married Nina Pectal August 27, 1988 at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Kingston, NY. He has served 20 years as a New York State Trooper, he zone Sergeant working out of the Monroe office.

He was an Avid softball player, golfer, photographer, and loved to cook. He is survived by his wife: Nina (Pectal) Hein and his son Warner Paul Hein, both at home.

He is survived by: his mother Roseann (Patrizzo) Hein of Esopus; his father & step-mother, Warner & Eileen Hein, Sr. of Lake Havasu City, AZ; his brother & his wife, Michael & Christine Hein of Hurley, NY; Nephew, Mickey Hein of Hurley, NY; Paternal Grandmother, Mildred Hein of Michigan.

Calling hours will be Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 1-6 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road in New Paltz.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7 at 10 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church Of The Redeemer, 104 Wurts Street, Kingston with Pastor Wynemah K. Hinlicky officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner.

I've known Warner since moving to Esopus when I was 11 and we all rode the bus together. The Hein family has always been kind and friendly. I was shocked to hear of Warner's passing and send my deepest condolences to his family. A great loss is felt by all who knew him I'm sure.

Warner was a Trooper's Trooper who truly believed that he was on this Earth to protect all who lived or passed through New York. He did his job with skill, dedication, sensitivity with his ever present good humor. His loss to his family, friends, the New York State Police and all New Yorkers cannot be measured. I was sorry to learn today of the recent death of Warner Hein. As a retired member of the NYSP I remember Warner as a hard working and dedicated Trooper. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children and family, as well as the extended State Police family on this tragic loss.

We are saddened by the news of Warner's passing. He has been a good friend to us since the passing of our son, Kenny, a NYS Trooper who was killed on duty. Warner ran the memorial golf tournament in Ken Poormon and Mike Kelly's honor. He will be missed and remembered always.

i have known Warner for several years, and even had the opportunity to work along side of him during my tenure with the plattekill police.
