Wilma Zanetti Obituary

Mrs. Wilma L. Zanetti, formerly of Pine Bush, N.Y., passed away after a short illness at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 86.

The daughter of Anna and Colman Schusler, she was born on January 21, 1921 in the Bronx.

Mrs. Zanetti originally moved from the Bronx to the Ulsterville area of Ulster County where her family operated a farm for many years. She then relocated to the Buffalo, N.Y. area where she was employed assisting the war effort during World War II. When the war was over she returned to the Pine Bush area where she and her husband, the late Joseph M. Zanetti, operated a successful restaurant business, Joe's Bar & Grill, for many years while raising a family. After retirement she spent time indulging her passion of acquiring antiques and collectables. She also contributed her time performing volunteer work at the Castle Point Veterans Center in Dutchess County and the American Legion Auxiliary in Pine Bush for many years. Her favorite vacations included deep sea fishing at Point Pleasant Beach, N.J. and Provincetown, Mass. When she wasn't spending time going on road trips as a member of the Pine Bush Senior Citizens group she liked taking the occasional railroad journey to the west coast to visit relatives and also vacationed on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and at Ocean City, Maryland with her grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Dominic Zanetti, Joseph P. Zanetti and his wife Susan, Frederic Zanetti and his wife Elizabeth, and Michael Schusler and his companion, Maria; eight grandchildren, Pam, Jeffrey, Steven, John, Justin, Ryan, Brendan, Jason and Caroline; a sister, Dorothy Boris; and a niece, Suzanne Boris, both of Hewitt, N.J.; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 1, 2007 from 12-2 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush.

Memorial Contributions can be made to DAV Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
