Mark Ockert Obituary

Mark Ockert
Bendon Michigan
April 5, 2025
Mark John Ockert passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born on November 19, 1961 to Fredrick James Ockert I and Donna Marie (Egan) Ockert in Frankfort, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Fredrick James Ockert II and Fredrick James Ockert III. He is survived by his children, Joshua Lee Ockert and Danielle Nicole Johnson, and his longtime girlfriend Susan Kay Kreiser, as well as by his brother Matthew Luke Ockert I (Wendy), his sister Sherri Ann Ockert-Poulisse (Michael), his sister Tammy Marie May (David), and countless beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mark grew up on a family farm in Bendon, raising cattle and pigs. From a young age, Mark loved working on anything mechanical. He graduated Benzie Central High School in 1979, and enlisted in the Army. After military service, Mark worked as a roofer to support his young family. Eventually, Mark transitioned to being an industrial mechanic, first at a fruit processing plant in Grawn, and then at a vehicle trim and upholstery plant in Benzonia. Mark was a hard worker and fiercely devoted to his family. He loved gardening, watching birds, and hosting bonfires and campouts. He is deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his home on Saturday, May 24th, at noon.
