Robert Jake "RJ" Rafferty, 32, of Beulah MI left his earthly home November 30, 2021. After his birth in California on October 19, 1989, his family moved 'home' to Benzie County. RJ took his first steps at 8 months of age and never looked back. He was a Frankfort Panther involved in OM, Robotics, sports, and Thespians. RJ graduated with honors from Frankfort High School in 2007. RJ thrived on learning and attended Grand Valley State University and Northwestern Michigan College. He was knowledgeable in many areas including auto mechanics, carpentry, masonry, computer technology, and culinary arts…because he LOVED to eat! RJ was a lot of things to a lot of people, but RJ was a hero to his sons. He will always be remembered for his love of bad dad jokes that only he thought were hilarious. "Hi, hungry. I'm dad." His punk rock lullabies and daddy rock anthems would soothe his children to sleep, and it actually worked! RJ was a natural at being a dad, and his sons adored him. RJ would help anyone in need and would give the shirt off his back. His laugh and his smile were contagious and infectious; no one could stop themselves from joining in his laughter. He left a trail of joy everywhere he went, and anyone who spent time with him was a better person for it. RJ loved fiercely and was loyal to those he loved. RJ is survived by his loving, beautiful wife, and soulmate Emily (Wagner) Rafferty, sons, Beau Hornaday & Ronan Rafferty, parents Rob & Deb Rafferty, In-laws Jeri (Mills) & John Ruble, Andrew Wagner, sister-in-law Carly Wagner. RJ also leaves behind many close relatives, a strong tribe, and countless friends. Arrangements are being handled by Jowett Funeral Home. Since RJ disliked the cold, dreary days of winter, a memorial/celebration of life is being planned for warmer weather, where those who loved him may be able to show off their own RJ signature, goofy, unapologetic dance moves.
