Thomas Stier of Frankfort passed away January 17, 2024, at the age of 81. Thomas was born April 8, 1942, son of Harry and Florence Stier. He graduated from L'Anse Cruise Senior High School in 1961 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He graduated basic training at Great Naval Academy March 18, 1962, and proudly served his country for 10 years. He was a yeoman on the admiral's staff and was in charge of top secret and cryptic material. He took great pride in all the jobs he did after the military and was working in shipping and receiving at PET Inc. when he met the love of his life, Donna Smith. When they were married in 1985, Tom brought his two children, Donna brought her four children and together they had one more child. They moved to Macomb, MI in 1993. Tom worked as a bus driver for Chippewa Schools. He was well known as "Mr. Tom" and was loved by "his kids" so much he would come home with bags of Christmas presents. After Tom retired in 2003, they spent time in Harbor Springs, California, Benzonia, and settled back in Frankfort. Tom spent his spare time hunting, fishing, gardening, camping with his family, and hanging out in his shed. Some of the fondest memories his kids have are with the "swamp thing", hunting for cans, spraying a can of whipped cream into Ava's mouth, Ava's Jack-in-the-Pulpit, and all the ghost stories. He loved the holidays when he would decorate for Christmas and playing Egor on the porch at Halloween. Tom was an excellent cook, and his specialties included his famous "Tom Burgers", squirrel, and Jubilee Chicken. Tom is survived by wife Donna Stier, daughters; Ashley (Nick) Pappas, Christy (Mario) Hernandez, son Tom Stier, stepchildren Tamara (Linda) Putney, Jeff Putney, Chrissy (Shane) Iverson, Maureen (Nate) Wilson, grandchildren Anthony, Danielle, Emma, Tyler, Ava, Kyle, Wyatt, Madisyn, Makayla, Benjamin, Colson, and Corbin. Tom was preceded in death by parents Harry and Florence, and brothers Roland and Harry. A service will be held in April, details will be announced at a later time.
