Cindy Thompson Obituary

Cindy Kaye Thompson (Walden)

In Loving Memory

November 23, 1951 - December 15, 2022

Surrounded by family, Cindy Kaye Thompson (Walden), age 71, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Cindy was born on November 23, 1951 in Portland, Oregon to Theodore H. Walden and Janette E. Link. Cindy's love and affection for her late husband Rodney and three sons Michael, Matthew, and Mark was unparalleled. She was an amazing woman and treated family, friends, students, and new acquaintances with overwhelming warmth and positivity. Cindy's older sisters Theo and Jan were always very proud of her many accomplishments in life. The love between sisters was very strong, even though miles apart, they visited and comforted each other often.

Cindy married her beloved husband, Rodney, on September 21, 1974 at Holladay Park Church of God in Portland, and together they started a blessed life in the Red Bluff community. Educated at Warner Pacific College in Portland (B.S. 1975), her love for music translated into a forty-year teaching career focused in primary education as a music specialist at Lassen View, Richfield, Bend, and other Tehama County elementary schools since 1976. She retired from Lassen View in 2016. Cindy found talent in every student and had a unique way of connecting with and drawing out the best in people. She was a staple at the First Church of God since the mid 1970s sharing her God-given talent of playing the piano and singing every Sunday with a bright smile on her face.

If you were married in Red Bluff, there's a good chance she sang and played the piano at your wedding, always making herself available for others. She imparted spiritual advice and encouragement to many young women through youth bible studies. In her more recent years, she cherished time with her grandkids, reading and singing to them at every opportunity. Cindy loved her visits with Rod to Klamath Falls to stay long weekends at Matthew and Cassie's home; riding horses, relaxing on the porch, and enjoying home-cooked meals. Words cannot describe our loss, but we have peace knowing she is in Heaven singing with the angels, reunited with her husband and parents.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney L. Thompson. Her memory will live on through her loving children Michael (Erin), Matthew (Cassie), and Mark (Jordan); beautiful grandchildren Avery, Owen, Quinn, and Sloan; and beloved siblings Theo and Jan (Jeff).

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service at the First Church of God, 750 Luther Rd., Red Bluff, CA on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. directly followed by a fellowship reception at the same location. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery will be held with family.

I am so glad God decided to bless ME with the friendship of Cindy (and Rod) The two of them were such a positive influence in my otherwise dreary life....coming along at just the right time. Youth Group with the two of them is something i will NEVER forget....and church camp! I have sooo many fond memories with these two! ah the headaches I musta caused them with all my shenanigans!
Rod and Cindy were one and the same to me. Yes, two different people, but where there was one, there was always the other so I cant refer to Cindy without referring to Rod....and vice versa
i'm comforted that i'll be seeing them both sooner rather than later. Cindy ALWAYS had a GLOW about her that lingered when she left the room, ill miss that (very few people have that.) To her children I pray God wraps you in his comforting arms as u enter this new unwanted chapter in your lives. God bless you all

Condolences, prayer and thanks for the wonderful life Cindy led in service of the Lord and her community. Difficult to imagine a world without the Thompsons, but thank you Lord we will see them again.

Mrs Thompson was my music teacher at Lassen View and she was also my son's music teacher. She was always warm and welcoming, always had a smile on her face. Just with in the last 5 or so years I ran into her in the store and was able to tell her how wonderful all of the Lassen View musical performances were in comparison to other schools and I felt it was because of her. She was so thankful for the praise. She was a beautiful person.

Mrs. Thompson was my music teacher all through my time at Lassen View. She was also a friend to my family, and we attended church at First Church of God. She was a true light in this world. I will forever remember her at the piano, with her bright smile. Sending love to the family.

Cindy and Rod Thompson are such important people in my life. And what a blessing they were to so many.

They were my youth group leaders in grade school and junior high. I'm so grateful for their teachings and for being so caring throughout my life. I have so many great memories. Snow trips. After school programs. The musicals that Cindy taught us and directed us in--I can still remember some of the songs nearly 50 years later.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and close friends.

I am so sorry to hear about Cindy´s passing. I worked with her for many, many years at Richfield School. She was truly a pleasure to work with and was such a great asset to our students, who cherished her. Her devotion and enthusiasm for teaching music was admirable. My condolences to her family.

I can´t remember Cindy without remembering Rod too. The two truly became one flesh. An amazing duo that touched our family´s lives in so many ways! I cherish my hugs from Cindy and always being greeted with a high pitch musical note I cannot wait to hear her play the piano and sing again in our heavenly home. What a day of rejoicing that will be!! Family... The Thompson´s are the epitome of family: caring, loving, sharing, defending, cheering and being the hands and feet of Jesus!! All our love and prayers to the beautiful legacy of Rod and Cindy; Michael, Matthew and Mark, and their adorable grandchildren. Thank you for sharing your parents with a whole community!! God bless you!
