Arthur Abbott June 4, 1938 - October 13, 2011
Born in Redding to Buck and Blanche Abbott. A lifelong South Cow Creek resident, Dad grew up learning the ways of a cowman from his father and mother.
Along with the ranch Dad worked outside as well. He spent many years in the logging woods as a cat skinner. When Logging bottomed out Dad went to construction still on the cat. Then as construction slowed he stuck with what he knew best, the cows. Dad worked at Shasta Livestock for 20 plus years.
He enjoyed riding colts, raising a good dog, and cows. At the Auction yard Dad could have all this.
Most of all he enjoyed the ranch and being at home with family, schooling us in the right way to do things.
He was a member of the Shasta County Cattlemen.
Contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice and the Millville Historical Society.
He is survived by wife Susan, daughter Robyn Caldwell (Marc), stepson Abner McKenzie (Stacey), Sister Donna Abbott, granddaughter Kayla Boring, grandsons Hunter Caldwell, Cole McKenzie, and Conner McKenzie, and four nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donald, his daughter Toni Abbott, and his son Buster Abbott.
Services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Palo Cedro at 11:00, with a potluck reception immediately following at the family ranch in Millville.

Donna--You have all my sympathy on the loss of your brother. I know how close you were and how much you will miss him. He was a very good man. He was always content with his horse and his family. art he has been many many many moons since we have talked i just want to thank uuu again for being uuuu and always having my back in the death of toni god bless uuuuu and yes keep a horse for me till i get there peace and blessings to the family

Robyn and family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I always loved your dads humor and laughter at all the family reunions and other get togethers. I know your dad really missed being out doing the things he loved doing, but in Heaven he is walking and riding again. Take comfort in that.
