Bart Preston Obituary

Bart Allen Preston

1983-2014

A celebration of life will be held for Bart on Saturday, October 25th at 2:00PM at the Grace Baptist Church: 3782 Churn Creek Road in Redding.

Bart was born in Redding, CA, but lived in Fall River Mills, 85 miles east of Redding. He attended preschool through first grade in Fall River, then moved to Redding and attended Country Christian School where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Upon completion of high school, Bart attended Shasta College where he received his A.A. degree. He then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend Spartan College of Aeronautics to fulfill his passion for aviation. After a year in Oklahoma, he returned to Redding and worked in the restaurant industry as one of the best servers in Shasta County. His work ethics were impeccable.

Bart spent a summer in Guatemala living with a family to learn Spanish. He had a voracious appetite for spiritual and world knowledge.
When he returned to Redding, he was working at the Outback Steakhouse where he met a beautiful woman and fellow server named Sarah. Sarah and Bart both attended Bethel's School of Supernatural Ministry, served as missionaries, and were married on 9-19-09 in Redding.

Bart and Sarah then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after their wedding and had a daughter named Makell, but lost her at 7 1/2 months of pregnancy. After the loss of their daughter, they moved to San Diego, CA where Bart completed two years of an aviation school to become a licensed lead airplane mechanic at Pratt & Whitney Aero Power until his death.

Bart played many sports, his favorite being baseball. He was an avid snowboarder and backpacker, having recently climbed Mt. Whitney. He loved disc golf, surfing, and scuba diving. He also loved hunting, golfing and rafting on the Sacramento River with his friends and Sarah. Bart loved music and learned to play the violin when he was 12 years old.

It has been said Bart lived 60 years of life in his 31 years. He embraced life with passion and total abandonment. Bart had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. He was a loyal friend who was compassionate and honest, with a warm heart that drew you into his world of adventure and travel. Bart was the proudest of the blessings that God bestowed upon him in his marriage and their daughter Bella Rose. He was ecstatic about their forthcoming child in May.

Bart is survived by wife Sarah, daughter Bella, mother Joanne Preston, father Gabriel Simon, stepmother Yumi Simon, brothers Takumi and Taiga, great grandmother Margaret Simon, aunt Eva Lowe , cousins Stephanie and Kevin Lowe , cousin Miles Simon, Dana Kakdela, uncle Linn Is Bell and wife Colleen, and aunt Noreen Davidson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bart's Memorial Fund at www.gofund.me/bartpreston.

My heart is filled with sadness and thankfulness to have been able to have had a some very special moments with this man...Bart your smile was contagious, your heart enormous, always a perfect gentlemen, I was lucky to call you my friend during my early 20's. I can't express to his mother how much he loved you he spoke of you often and please know what a wonderful light your son was to me and to everyone that was lucky to have met him, be proud of the man he was. Bart was my brother from my other mother :) we were together since the womb, only 6 months apart... He always reminded me that he loved me just because I was his sister, there was nothing I had to do to earn his love. He always encouraged me and told me he was proud of me... I will always hold those words in my heart. He was able to help me learn the meaning of unconditional love in many ways. I'm so thankful to him for giving me my amazing sister Sarah, my beautiful niece, and niece or nephew arriving soon... As my oldest son said, "uncle Bart is in heaven now." I hold on to the peace and joy knowing that I will see him again with our heavenly Father! I love you B-Bart, and I promise I will take care of our family! See you in paradise! Love- Car Car :)

Our Dearest Friend Joanne,

As parents of an only child, and that of a son, we can only imagine the pain and loss you must feel in the passing of the “love of your life”. We have fond memories of the time that Bart spent in our home. His smile, his laugh, his goodness and his willingness to help…all those wonderful virtues he got from you. While in our home, Bart helped to fill the void of not having our son(s) at home. Bart's presence will never be forgotten. We pray that God will wrap his loving arms around Bart, his wife Sarah , his daughter Bella Rose and his unborn child.

With much love,
Linda Young and William O. Scott, Jr.

Bart was a good student at the Aviation Maintenance Tech Program at Miramar College. He had a natural understanding of the intricacies of aircraft and would often help other students in their studies. I was proud to have him in my classes.
