Byron Comstock Obituary

Former Millville resident Byron "Tony" Comstock, M.D. passed away on September 7, 2010 in Folsom, CA. He was born in Kirksville, Missouri to Byron H Comstock, Senior and Marian Curry. The family re-located to Lakeland, FL when Byron was a child. He graduated from Georgia Military College in 1941. Immediately after graduation, Byron enlisted in Royal Canadian Air Force. He earned his RCAF wings and elected to transfer to the US Navy in 1942, and became a Naval Aviator in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of VMF 323 and VMF 225, flying the F4U throughout WWII. After the war he completed four years of college in two and just as he began medical school his Reserve Unit was called to serve in Korea. Byron achieved the rank of Major in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Kansas City College of Osteopathy in 1958 and later obtained his MD from University of California, Irvine. He practiced Medicine in Santa Ana, CA for 20 years. In 1982 he moved with his family to Millville and in 2003 relocated to Cameron Park, CA.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter Elaine Keeti Linn, son-in Law, Michael Linn, grandsons, Jake and Toby Linn, sister, Catheryn Neff and brother, Tom Parkes. There will be a Celebration of his Life on October 23, 2010 at 2 p.m. at his home in Cameron Park, CA.

Barbara I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed. My mom and dad and girls remember him well and miss you both as neighbors in Millville.

Barbara and Family: It was a privilege to know Tony and he will be greatly missed. He was a true gentleman and accomplished so much during his life. We as a nation are poorer for the loss of men like him, who served so bravely during during World War II and Korea. Jeff Blalock
