Carol Ann Fraga
A celebration of the life of Carol Ann Fraga is planned for Saturday August 22, 2009 at 3 PM. The celebration will be held at the home of her Daughter, Eva located at 839 Schilling Way in Mount Shasta. For people interested in remembering Carol, it would be a wonderful gesture if contributions were made in her name to Mercy Hospice of Mount Shasta.
Carol graduated from this life into an eternal life with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 6, 2009. She left us peacefully in the presence of her daughter and son, at her residence in Redding.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick), her parents Hubert and Francis Franklin and sister Mary Nichols. She is survived by her daughter, Eva Moll and her son, Rick Fraga, both of Mount Shasta; her brothers Jim Franklin (Cindy) of McCloud, Carl Franklin (Pat) of Happy Valley and John Franklin (Beth) of Greenview. Additionally, Carol is survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three granddogs.
Carol was born in McCloud, California on July 15, 1934. She was raised in McCloud, attending McCloud schools through high school. Then in 1951 she married Richard (Dick) Fraga and eventually made their home in Dunsmuir. Carol lived in Dunsmuir continuously until moving to Redding in 2007, spending 73 years of her life in Siskiyou County. During her years in Dunsmuir, Carol gave birth to her children and once they were of school age, she went to work and established a 27 year career at Bank of America. She held a variety of positions with Bank of America, culminating with being the Branch Manager when she retired in 1989. Carol was very active in the community, much of her efforts being focused on helping people within the community. She spent a number of years on the Board of Directors for the Dunsmuir Recreation District, as well as being active in the Friends of the Library in Dunsmuir. She also was involved with the Salvation Army and their food distribution progra ms during the holiday seasons for a number of years. In 2000, Carol was named Citizen of the year for the City of Dunsmuir, being rewarded for her years of civic involvement and supporting of the community members. Amidst all this activity, Carol still found time to raise two very active children, be a wife, attend courses at College of the Siskiyous and maintain her relationships.
Carol had a passion for helping people, whether it was while working at the bank or on her personal time through volunteerism. Carol also was an avid reader, frequently was found working on puzzles and crossword puzzles, loved plants and especially indoor gardening. Later in life she developed a love for animals, especially her dogs, Shaka, Rosie and SweetPea. Throughout Carol's life, the one thing she did with very little effort was build relationships and collect friends. She maintained relationships with people dating back to elementary school right up to her final days here. She valued and treasured them all whether she knew them 1 week or 70 years.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful, loving care provided to Carol by the staffs of Oakdale Heights Assisted Living and Mercy Hospice, both of Redding. These organizations and their people helped us make her final days with us peaceful, comfortable in a loving and caring environment.
Thank you all!!!
Carol will be missed by her children, grandchildren, brothers and many, many friends.
