Darryl Wagner Obituary

Darryl L.Wagner left the arms of his family and friends and went home to find rest in the arms of Jesus on May 12, 2010. Darryl was born on July 5, 1966, in Sonoma, CA. As the son of Gary and Linda Wagner, he was the second of four children. Raised in Redding from the age of three, he graduated from Liberty Christian High School in 1984. As a child and teenager, Darryl developed a love for outdoor activities which carried on into his adult life. He loved hunting, soccer, softball, camping, and relatively any activity that kept him busy and let him enjoy the fresh air.
Darryl attended Chapman University and Davis University before graduating from McGeorge School of Law in 1992. He worked as an attorney for 18 years. Most recently at his practice of Altemus and Wagner in Redding. He was a well known and accomplished attorney, but found his true passion in caring for his family and friends.
Darryl and his wife Rahna, were married on June 20, 2001. Together they celebrated the birth of their three boys Jaxon, Zachary, and Jacob. Darryl was a passionate father who loved teaching his boys how to hammer a nail, rope a cow, shoot a bow, and many other important skills they will carry on into their adulthood. He was an amazing example to his boys of love, kindness, and generosity. Darryl's greatest joy was time spent with his family.
Darryl is survived by his wife Rahna and their three boys Jaxon seven, Zachary six, and Jacob five. He is also survived by his parents, Gary and Linda Wagner, sisters Kristi Brown, Marilee Nies, and Emilee Wertz. He leaves behind grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, nieces , cousins, and many friends for whom he cared deeply.
Darryl will linger in our hearts and minds for years to come, and we are beyond grateful for the blessing of having him in our lives. Darryl was highly respected by all who knew him, and although he will be greatly missed, we are thankful for the memories, the lessons, and the legacy that we gain from knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 20th, at Redding Christian Fellowship 2157 Victor Avenue. In lieu of flowers and gifts a scholarship fund will be established in Darryl's honor at the Redding Bank of Commerce.

Rahna,
Donna and I are deeply saddened by Darryls passing. He was a great man, and a pleasure to be around. He was always upbeat and enjoyed life. As you know, Donna worked with Darryl for a very long time, and she will miss him deeply. I cannot put into words what you must be going through, but please try to be strong for your children. May God bless you and your family through this very difficult time.

Oh! What a loss! We will miss seeing Darryl out in the pasture giving tractor rides to a young son, shooting arrows at targets with the boys, and allowing us to enjoy this interaction with his sons. As he remarked once: "I guess we live in a fishbowl there." And, I'm glad for that, because we who traveled by his home were able to see this wonderful dad in action!

May you feel comfort and strength knowing his pain is gone and he is resting in peace. He will be watching over you and the kids from heaven above with that beautiful smile of his.

i did not get to know darryl but saw him when he came in for a haircut. Just knowing that he loved and served Jesus is a comfort-God knows those that are His and has called them by name. We will never know why He chose darryl at such a young age but we can rest knowing His ways are perfect and His will for our lives can be trusted. My prayers are with the family knowing how much he will be missed.

What is the measure of a man's life? It's surely not length of days. Our Savior was just 33 years old when He died. I think the true measure of a man's life is to be found in the quality of the life that was lived, rather than it's length. Was he a good son, brother, father, husband and friend? Was he a loving and caring individual? Was he charitable and compassionate? In reference to Darryl Wagner, whom we have known since he was a young boy, I can say that he excelled in each of those categories. I also knew him to be a man of uncompromising character. You never had to doubt his integrity. And one could easily see what kind of husband and father he was by the affection shown by him, and to him, by Rahna and the boys at Church on Sundays. As for the kind of friend he was, we couldn't have asked for any better than Darryl. He was always willing to help in time of need. Our family has been deeply touched by a life well lived. Our temporary loss is now Heaven's permanent gain. Thank you for a life well lived Darryl. Well done my friend, well done.

Dear Rahna and Family,
Please know that our God has his loving arms wrapped tightly around all of you including Darryl. His plan remains a mystery. However, take comfort in knowing Darryl rests with Him in eternal peace. His fight is over and he waits for all of you in the arms of our Lord. This next year will be a challenge but, you will never be alone. Lean on your faith and you will be given strength you never knew you possessed.
Sincerely,

To the Wagner Family. May the Lord be with you during this difficult time in the loss of Darryl. He was a wonderful, caring person. I went to grade school with Kristen at Grace Baptist and Darryl was a few years behind us. He was also the Planning Commission Chairman for the City of Anderson for several years and did an outstanding job. Prayers for Rahna and the children, may the Lord be with you and bless you always.

Rahna,

We grieve with you and for you during this terrible time. Darryl was a wonderful man, husband, father and friend, and an example for all of us to follow, especially in the past months. We know that your faith and family will give you comfort in the weeks and months to come. We think of you often and you and the boys, and all of the family are in our prayers.
