David Hoyum Obituary

David R. Hoyum

1937 - 2014

He's with the Lord!
A few years ago, realizing his wild life left him empty he turned his life around….May 13, 2014 David R. Hoyum left to be with Jesus. What a peace that brings a family when a loved one leaves this earth.

Born in Michigan March 7, 1937, moved as a baby to Southern Calif, went to school and raised his children in Costa Mesa till the move to Millville in the early 60's. He loved his kids, adventure, fishing, a fish story, Westport, Washington, a deer hunt, a good project, and until 6 years ago, a drink.

A man of many talents and much energy and very determined, he has been a commercial fisherman, a brick layer, builder of houses and jack of all trades. There was never a fear of something not working out with David, not that it was always done just right but it would work!

He was loved by many altho there are probably a few that didn't see eye to eye with him, but that is the way of the world! Through and through he was a wonderful man with a big heart, a workaholic, the "candy man" at church, an avid gardener, a loving father, quick witted and if you can believe it a flower designer and an accomplished seamstress. Gentle David, a caring David, a loving David.

As his legacy he leaves behind his 2 daughters, Rhonda Schmitt (Steve) and Laurie Baker, his son David Hoyum (Cheryl), 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and his wife of 20+ years, Carolyn, Seth his Golden Retriever and his favorite cat Keo. Also step father and grandpa to numerous others.

We invite friends and family to his memorial Friday, May 23 at 3 p.m. at True Life Church at 11958 Deschutes Rd in Bella Vista. Following will be a celebration of his life hereon earth and his new life with our Lord at his home in Palo Cedro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mercy Hospice.

Every time I think of David I remember a smiling face and I smile, too. I enjoyed his company and his dry humor and was amazed by all the things he could do: his garden, the things he built, fishing, flower arranging and on and on. He was a really special guy and will be missed. My deepest sympathy goes to his family and my love to Carolyn.

David, The years we fellow-shipped together were too short, but fine memories. We will have eternity to do so in the future. It was always more than pleasant to see you in attendance whenever I was preaching, to see your interest and quest for knowledge of the things of God gave me much delight. I'll see you as soon as I get there brother.

David our friend and brother in law took on any challenge to build, fix it, grow it, travel, love and keep my sister happy. We appreciate the needed construction he did for us and loved his fun stories. He and all who think of him are embraced in God's love.

We are so thankful that we were able to be a small part of his life the last couple of years. He was very generous and we loved the rock clams we brought back from the coast. We are so sorry for your loss and pray that his parting is gentle on your hearts. He loved Jesus and we will see him again. Much love, Bob and Donna Frampton Family
