David Mark "Mark" Wasson

David Wasson Obituary

REDDING - David Mark Wasson, "Mark" as everyone knew him, a Redding, CA resident for 8 years, died on February 22, 2007. He was two days away from being 59.

Wasson, born in Boise, Idaho on February 24, 1948, came into the world full of life. He never let anything get him down. At the age of 2 he became ill with Polio. He spent several months in the rehab hospital, where all of the Doctors and Nurses fell in love with him. He has a way of attracting people with his wonderful charm and love for life. The Doctors told him he might not be able to walk again, but that didn't stop him. He was determined to not let anything slow him down, and he soon after began walking. He attended school in Idaho, Maryland, and California.

Wasson had a love of cooking that began very early in his childhood. His mother recalled at the early age of 12, she knew he was going to be a Chef. His first job was with Howard Johnson, he worked there for many years, and then went on to manage quite a few restaurants. Managing didn't keep Mark's attention for too long, so he went back to his passion, cooking. He went into a catering business, and then shortly after moved to Redding to be closer to his family. His last job was at the Big Dipper in Shasta Lake City, where he got to do what he loved, cook; and visit with his 'regulars'.

David Mark Wasson is survived by his parents, Dwight and Ethel Wasson of Shasta Lake City, CA, sisters,
Sandra Galvan of Barstow, and Christine Obst of Redding, brother, Steven
Wasson of Lake Oswego, OR, grandson Jake Drees of Petaluma, CA, 5 nieces, and 2 nephews.
