Dorothy Louise Bennett

REDDING - Dorothy Bennett passed away at her home in Redding on Saturday night from illness. She was born in Houston, TX. on October 10, 1930 to Benjamim Less Shelton and Hazel Mae (Russell) Shelton. They moved to Weed, California in 1936 from Mena, Arkansas. Dorothy worked most of her life as a waitress and also worked with the U.S. Forest service out of Adin, CA. with her husband, Howard, after their retirement. It was a time they both enjoyed. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Howard M. Bennett of Redding, two daughters, Sharon Sottana of Redding and Shirley (and Wesley) Dutt of Weed, one step-son, Sandy (and Judy) Bennett of White City, Oregon.

She is also survived by one sister, Joyce Alves of Weed, and three brothers, Austin (and Bonnie) Shelton of Laguna Hills, CA., George (and Suzie) Shelton of Santa Cruz, CA and Paul (and Debbie)Shelton of Redding. She is also survived by several grand children and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Robert Sottana and one step-son Jerry Bennett.

Dorothy was a member of the Foothill Christian Center of Palo Cedro and will be remebered for her strong faith and her giving nature to all those around her. We were all blessed to have known her.

The family would like to request that any donations be sent to Mercy Hospice in Redding.

Services for Dorothy will be held at Foothill Christian Center, 22172 Old 44 Drive in Palo Cedro, on Saturday, June 30 at 11:00 A.M.

Dear Friends and family memebers of Dorothy; my heart is sadden of the passing of this dear friend and sister in the Lord, but her sweet memories will always be in my heart. Yes, she will be missed, but Praise the Lord, she is home now. And one day, we will see her again. My prayers and love go to you all. My mother Dolores Coulter sends her love, and prayers to you all as well. God Bless You All!
