Eugene Batti Obituary

Eugene "Geno" Batti

Eugene "Geno" Batti went to meet his Lord on Friday October 29th, 2010 after a long full life.

Geno was a WWII Veteran who served in New Guinea. Geno was a man that loved his family and the outdoors and made friends with everyone he met. He always had a smile or a story to tell, and loved to make people laugh. He was a man of integrity, strong work ethic, and his "word was his bond". You could always count on him no matter what the situation.

Geno leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Carmen, a younger brother Rico Batti (and wife Josie), 3 daughters who love and miss him, Donna Harris (and son-in-law Richard), Susan Batti-Atkinson, and Pamela Batti-Hamar; 3 wonderful grandchildren who thought he was the best grandfather ever, Eugene and Jason Atkinson and Bethany Hamar; along with many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great granddaughter.

We would like to thank Richard from Mercy Hospital Hospice who showed our dad and us so much love and compassion and the caregivers of Lakewood Christian Home Care who loved and took care of him. You are all angels. He will be missed by us all but we know that we will be reunited one day in Heaven, until then dad, we love and miss you! Capisce?

A memorial service celebrating this wonderful man will be on November 13th at 12-noon at Crossroads Bible Fellowship, 2300 Ferry St., with a reception immediately following. Please feel free to share a story or memory to honor Gino.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the California Veterans Assistance Group, 737 Auditorium Drive, Redding, CA 96001 for the Veterans Memorial Building currently under construction at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA.

Daddy it's been 12 years! There are times when it just hits me you are gone, times where I look at your lilac bush and tell you to look, it has finally bloomed. I wish you could have met your son in law John, he is a wonderful man that loves your granddaughter and they have a beautiful family. Someday pop, we will be together and can "catch up" . I look forward too that day of seeing you and mom and uncle Rico all together again. Love you! Pam

In the very short amount of time that I got to spend getting to know Geno, this man truly touched my heart. As activity Director at Lakewood Christian Home I would invite Geno and his wife Carmen to participate in an activity, Carmen said "yes !!" right away where as Geno would hem and haw, and hem and haw. I would start off for the activity and sure enough, I look behind me and here comes Geno telling us that," we are all just a bunch of cheaters, and if he didn't win, then he shall not play with us again." Well let me tell you that he always played. Geno, I miss you tremendously. I will "keep my eyes to the skies like a big pizza pie,......that's amore !!!
