Eugene West Obituary

Gene was born in Noble, Oklahoma, August 9, 1925. He was the last living of eleven children of Sherman and Blanche West. He died February 4, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding CA. Gene grew up on the family farm in Noble, Oklahoma. Moving to Washington state after graduation, he worked various jobs. Returning home to Noble, Oklahoma he married Ina Vene Heard, his wife of 64 years.

Gene, Ina and most of the family moved to Shasta County, CA. in 1976, settling in Millville, CA. He continued with his Sooner Plumbing Company until retirement in the 1980's.
His great interest in horse racing kept him busy studying the horses and jockeys. He became friends with many at the track. Through the years, Gene's expertise at shooting pool, found him the winner of many tournaments. He loved the game. Gene loved to talk and tell stories. He could be found working on his cars and trucks, always helping one of the kids with their vehicles. Gene was surrounded by family and friends, enjoying gatherings and BBQ's.
