James Fish Obituary

James E. Fish

Redding, CA

11/15/34 - 10/05/16

James was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to Roy and Katherine Fish, eldest of four: James, Audrey, Angela, and Donald. Most of his growing-up years were in Spokane, WA. As a youngster, he was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. Asked once what his happiest day was, he replied, without hesitation, "The day I earned my pilot's license and made my solo flight." This was before he was old enough to get his automobile driver's license.

While serving his country in Austria he met and married Mathilda. They raised four children: James, Gerald, Katherine, and Gayle. His grandchildren are Shauna, Roy, Steven, Nathan, Syaira and Tyler. Great grandchildren are Colette and Penelope.

Jim graduated Eastern Washington State University with a degree in business, which he used to acquire a job with the United States Forest Service until his retirement in 1989.

In 2004 Jim gave his soul to Jesus, and in 2005 his heart to Barbara, whom he adored and called his gift from God. Jim loved God's Word and participated in several Bible studies. He co-taught Bible class at the Good News Rescue Mission. He and Barbara found many ways to have fun .... singing Neil Diamond karaoke; dancing in the street, crosswords, Jeopardy, NASCAR, and he was learning to play duplicate bridge.

A celebration of Jim's life will be 3 PM, October 28 at Redding Christian Fellowship 2157 Victor Ave.

My dad was always my rock that I could go to during the storms that show up in life. I will always miss him. His grand kids also see some of him in them and they grieve our loss. You will always be with us Dad.
