Jerry Leon Baker
Born September 26th, 1954
Jerry Baker of Redding, CA passed away Wednesday, October 15th, 2014, following an extended battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Yuba City on September 26th, 1954 to Floy and Dorene Baker.
He grew up in Hallwood, Chico, Redding, and Red Bluff, graduating from Red Bluff High School in 1972. He attended Point Loma Nazarene College on a wrestling scholarship, where he also played on the college baseball and soccer teams. On June 15th, 1974 Jerry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sherrilyn Thacker of Redding. They remained happily married until his death. Jerry graduated from PLNC in 1976 with a B.A. in Physical Education.
In 1976, Jerry and Sherrie moved to Redding to raise their family. Jerry joined his father-in-law in business at Daniel's Furniture Showcase. Later, he and Sherrie owned Swensen's Ice Cream, and Jerry officiated high school wrestling up to the state championship level. Jerry began selling real estate in 1991 and it became his passion for the next 24 years. He was President of the Shasta Association of Realtors, and was 2013's Shasta County Realtor of the Year. Jerry was also the founder, co-owner, and Broker at Results Real Estate. In recent years, he enjoyed long road trips on his Harley, joined by his wife and friends.
A devoted husband, loving and supportive father, and mischievous and doting grandfather, Jerry is survived by his wife of forty years, Sherrie, his children Travis (Tonya) Baker of Chico, Kallie (Josh) Markle of Redding, and Bonnie (Andy) McCoy of Oroville, 5 grandchildren, his mother Dorene, and three siblings, Brad, Becci, and David.
A celebration of Jerry's well-lived life will be held on October 24th at 3pm at Redding 1st Church of the Nazarene 2225 Bechelli Ln., Redding, CA, 96002.

I knew Jerry at Red Bluff High School. He was such a nice, fun loving guy. I am thankful that we were able to reconnect via the internet 3 years ago prior to our 40th class reunion. But more than that I am grateful that he knows the Lord Jesus Christ and that I will see Jerry again in eternity. To Jerry's family I pray the the Lord's comfort and peace and love will carry you through your grief.

This was the most wonderful man...my Broker, will be so sadly missed. Wish we had more time to spend getting to know one another and my husband and I riding our Harley's with them.
