My sincere condolences to Clay's family. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. Clay and I attended Central Valley High School together in the late 70's and we both graduated in 1979. We had classes together and attended and participated in all the normal high school events that one would expect including the prom. Although we were not close friends there was always a warmness between us when we connected, even at pick up basketball games at Sequoia. In fact, it was at one of these games that I last saw him. We laughed and joked frequently during that game that occurred many years ago. What I remember most about Clay was that he was easy going but sincere, friendly and caring. He was a good man and he will be sorely missed.

Joe, Maureen, Cal, Ben, family and friends
It is a struggle to find words that can ease the pain of such a significant loss.
Clay left a favorable impression on my entire family and knew he was destined from the first day he delivered the newspaper to our house.
I can only imagine how difficult the days have been, and know there will be difficult days to come.
My heart aches for you all and pray God gives you comfort through the tears, smiles through the beautiful memories and much support from friends and family close and dear to you.
This is an old photo of Clay from 9th grade.

My deepest sympathy for Clay's loved ones. We were schoolmates from before middle school through high school graduation and always held Clay in such high regard. He always showed such kindness, strength of character, and had a smile for everyone. Will always remember Clay's sweet nature and will keep him in my heart with fond memories. Grateful to have had the honor to be one of his many, many friends.

Mr. And Mrs. Demercurio, Cal, Ben, and your families:
Firstly, I was so very sorry to hear the news that Clay had passed. He was the best of us and a true leader in our class. He was loved by fellow students, teachers, and his community.
When I think back on our childhood, I think of how he was already on his way to becoming honorable leader and gentleman. His smile and kind heart were so welcome in a time when other teens were not as tactful. He was a classic gentleman. Mr. And Mrs. Demercurio, thank you, you raised him well.
Living in the south is great but it's times like these I wish I were still a Cali girl. I hope you know my heart is with you even though I can't be.
I pray that God help you through this horrific time. We will keep you in our hearts and prayers.
