Lois Tyler Obituary

Lois Louise Daniels Ulberg Tyler

1925 - 2011

Lois Louise Daniels Ulberg Tyler, 85, passed away 3 am on January 8, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Redding, CA.
Lois was born on June 16, 1925 in the old Miners Hospital in Park City, Utah to Clifford Daniels and Amelia Ivy (Mimi) Potter.

At the age of 11 her family moved to Shasta County, California. She graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1943 from Anderson High School.

She married her high school sweetheart Merle S. Ulberg on July 20, 1945 in Redding. The next 7 years she was sailor's wife and lived in New Orleans, Boston and Florida where her first two sons were born, later moving back to California where her remaining two children were born. After serving in the US Navy for 9 years, Merle and Lois returned to Redding where they raised their family.

In 1972 Merle died at the age of 47 from Melanoma.

In February 1974, she went to work as a bookkeeper for Public Broadcasting Television (KIXE) in Redding. She worked there for seventeen years before retiring at the end of 1990.

She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the years and after her retirement she served a full time family history mission in Salt Lake City.

For the next six years she went on many trips and had great adventures with many of her family members including her sister Jean.
In 1996 she married Wally Tyler. Wally had been a fellow classmate of her and Merles, only a year behind in school. Following health challenges for both of them they moved into assisted living facilities. For the last 7 years they have been residing at Oakdale Heights in Redding.

She leaves behind her husband, Wally Tyler, a sister, Dawn Leatham (Archie) and her four children; Daniel Ulberg (Terri) of Decateur, TX, Clifford Ulberg (Teri) of Cottonwood, Judy Tenney (Jerry) Yuba City, CA, and Ronald Ulberg (Jan) of Bluffdale, UT. She has 17 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Merle; and sister, Jean Serpa.
