Redding, CA
At home in Redding, California, October 28, 2016, MICHAEL ROBERT PARKINSON, age 71, son of the late Wilbur and Muriel Parkinson. Beloved brother of Timothy Parkinson of Lakeport, CA; Thomas Parkinson of Redfield, AR; Kathleen (Mel) Shaver of Standard, CA; Colleen Parkinson of Redding, CA; and Mary Parkinson of Hemet, CA. Much loved brother-in-law of Gary Hall of Tacoma, WA. Survived also by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his loving wife of 25 years, Victoria Parkinson, and by his sister Carole Leach and his brother Patrick Parkinson.
Mike had a heart of gold and always stepped up to the plate to help anyone in need, be they relatives, friends or strangers. He was full of kindness toward children and animals, and gave generously to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, Adopt-A-Family, and various Animal Rescue organizations. Among his many interests and activities were classic cars, which he restored and won numerous awards for, nature photography, antiques (especially radios), and collecting Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. A Patriot through and through, Mike's home was never without an American flag in the front yard.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, California.
Mike has requested that, in lieu of flowers, send memorial donations to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Saint Jude Children's Hospital, Love Your Pet Expo Sanctuary (LoveYourPetExpo.com), or a local Animal Rescue organization of your choice.

I first met Mike and Vickie when I was about 4 years old. They were amazingly kind and good people. I loved them both very much. The only thing I can be happy about is that he's finally with Vickie again. I love you.

Michael impressed me the first time I met him. It was obvious he loved animals, especially dogs that he always gave treats to. He was a good conversationalist.
