Reetha Ann Jay, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 81, passed away at her home in Redding, CA, surrounded by her loving family on December 21, 2018. She lived in Redding since 1953 after moving from Arkansas. She was born February 20, 1937 in Danville, Arkansas to Fred Loren Byrd and Maud Ester Nichols Byrd.
On November 23, 1951 she married Milbern M. Jay. Together they had 3 children, Teresa (Morefield), and sons Loren and Larry.
She is survived by her loving husband, "Jay", daughter Teresa (Dan), son Loren, brother Clarence Byrd, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Redding First Church of the Nazarene 2225 Bechelli Lane Redding, CA with Pastor Jim Logan officiating.
The Jay, Morefield Family would like to extend our gratitude to the third floor nursing staff at Shasta Regional Medical Center and the incredible hospice staff at Dignity Health, with a special thank you to Christine, Ryan and Janet. You'll never be forgotten!

I love and miss you so Mom! Today I started to say I needed to call you. I can't remember how many times I've thought about doing that. Tomorrow you've been gone 3 weeks and it seems like forever! I'm so thankful that you're not in pain anymore and are rejoicing with the Lord & your family that went before you! Until we meet again on the Heavenly shore, I will always love you! Your Daughter

Condolences to our Redding folk. Reetha was a dear loving, caring, Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Someone who I've known for over 50 years. I'll always remember she was with my own mother when she passed away. Now their together again with all our other loved ones who have gone before. Susan and I wish we could be there Saturday to remember and celebrate her life. Please know we have you all in our thoughts and prayers. Pat & Susan
