Steve Ippolito Obituary

Steve Ippolito, age 82, a resident of Redding, CA, died peacefully at his home on February 18, 2011 with his wife and daughter by his side. "Big" Steve was born in Louisiana, served in the US Army Korean conflict and was later working for Holmes & Narver as a pipeline designer in their Los Angeles office where he met the love of his life, Gloria. They were planning to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 15 of this year. In addition to being a great husband, father, grandfather, he was a favorite father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
He and his wife have been active members of St. Joseph's Parish in Redding and participated in the Eucharistic ministry and Steve himself with the Stephen Ministry. During Steve's long illnesses his wife's personal belief that "My Faith Is Stronger Than My Fear" enabled her to be his constant companion, nurse, caregiver, keeper of meticulous medical records, which she did lovingly for many years. Steve's happiest hours were spent cooking great Italian food and baking bread in his kitchen, watching football and Westerns, working crossword puzzles, woodcarving and appreciating cartoons and corny jokes.
He was also a member of the Shasta Mall Walkers where he had many more friends. Steve was loved by everyone who was blessed enough to meet him. He had a huge geart and a cheerful spirit.
He is survived by his son, Steven Ippolito and his children Chelsea, Brittany and Kalen and by his daughter, Lisa Ippolito-Holsey and her husband, Darren and their daughter Reese - and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding on Friday, February 25, 2011. Funeral mass on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with a reception at the church hall following. Burial on Monday February 28, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Northern California Veterans' Cemetery in Igo. Donations to the American Heart Association may be mede in his name.

Gloria & Family
We were so sorry to hear about Steve and will keep you in our prayers and thoughts. He was such a kind and gentle man and was always there to help. We remember how both of you kindly took us under your wing for the Hospital Ministry. He was a blessing to all and will be missed by many.
