Sadly, I just came across this information. I went to bootcamp and AIT @ Ft. Sam with Wes. This is tragic, condolences to friends and family. He was an absolutely kind, warm human being and this world was lucky to have Wes. Wes had a calming presence during the most stressful of situations. I remember carrying him on my back and vice/versa when we would run up the hills at 5am in San Antonio (he was heavy - hehe). On graduation, he went out of his way to approach my parents and say nice things about me which they remember to this day. He attended a BBQ I hosted at my Aunt's in San Antonio and was happy, appreciative, and so darn friendly to all. Wes selflessly served his country, and I'm sure was an amazing husband, father, and friend.

Wesley was my Vet Center counselor. I only had a few sessions with him. Every time we had a session, upon leaving,I felt like he had given me good advice and helped me see things from a different perspective. I was shocked to hear of his passing and my condolences go out to the family.

I met Mr. Shockley four years ago at the Chico Vet center. I started attending his Iraq And Afghanistan groups. I am very sad to hear of his passing away. He helped me transition and guide me through my hardships. Mr. Shockley was one of the few individuals that I felt one hundred percent , and was able to move on in life. Thank you sir for your service. And to his family and friends sorry for your loss. I will never forget him and he will never be forgotten since he helped so many combat vets. See you in Vanhalla Shockley. - Sgt. Mario Ramirez USMC

Wesley's kind and giving nature will leave an indelible mark on this world, offering hope to so many. His partnership at the Vet Center in Citrus Heights with the Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra was highly valued re comp tickets for Vets and their Families. Requiem in pace, Wesley.

Wes was a friend and colleague in the Veteran service business. When I was the VSO in Shasta County, Wes was my point of contact at the Chico Vet Center. He opened the door to countless Veterans who desperately needed help and was instrumental in establishing a Vet Center satellite office in Redding. Wes will be greatly missed.

Sincere condolences to everyone Wes touched in this world. And he touched so many lives. This has rocked the shakey foundation in my life, and I know the lives of many others. Peace be to you Carolyn and your children, and Wes's family.
Peace also to the many in Wes's work world, like me who Wes helped while in Chico, CA.
I am so, so sorry!

Carolyn & family,
Our thoughts are with you through this tremendous loss. I was fortunate to spend a year with Wes in Iraq in 2004. He was such a special person--always willing to go out of his way for others. He was a leader and role model for so many people. We all loved him. I remember how his eyes would light up when talking about going home, or getting a chance to call home. He love Carolyn very much, and it was beautiful to see. Our hearts will be with you from Virginia during this difficult time and transition. Hold each other close and remember he'll forever be in all of our hearts.

Wes was a unexpected mentor and teacher for me at a time in my life that I needed the kindness and gentleness that only he could provide. Thank you Wes for the countless games of racquetball at Chico Sports Club. And thank you for walking next to me while I learned how to be me. Forever grateful.
Sending all of Wes' family and friends love and light.

Wes's loved ones, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Wes for a few months at the Citrus Heights Vet Center (he was coming in and I was leaving) and I genuinely liked him. I appreciated the way he blended his sense of humor with his caring nature. He was one of the good ones
