DENIS HEIMERMAN Obituary

was born on August 2, 1943 in Colwich, Kansas and died on October 29, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home in Redlands, surrounded by his family. Denis grew up on a wheat farm in Akron, Colorado. He moved to California in 1964 and served honorably in the Army and National Guard. He worked in many areas of the construction industry, and as a general contractor specializing in military base housing rehab. He was a highly skilled builder and creative woodworker. He left many handmade treasures to his family. Denis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Christy Heimerman and three daughters; Nicol Watanabe and husband Joseph, of Redlands; Abby Harned and husband Jason, of Redlands; Lea Padilla and husband Douglas of Evanston, Illinois; and six beloved grandchildren, Emiko and Benjiro Watanabe, Laurel and Nathan Harned, and Sophia and Mateo Padilla. Denis was one of eleven children. Surviving siblings include two sisters; Alice Mennenga of Denver, Colorado; and Edna Heimerman, also of Denver; one brother, Jim Heimerman of Colwich, Kansas; and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial mass at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Friday, November 5 at eleven in the morning. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Loma Linda VAMC (attention Volunteer Services).
