Janet Winn Obituary

June 6, 1941 - May 8, 2021 Janet A. Winn, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on May 8, 2021 in Redlands, California. She was born to John William Allan and Margaret Allan in Ely, Nevada. She moved to Redlands when she was seven years old. As a child, Jan was known by her nickname Pepper. Jan attended Redlands High School, participating in student government, cheering as a song girl, and being crowned Homecoming princess her sophomore and junior years. She graduated in 1959. She thereafter attended UCLA, graduating in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Thomas Winn in 1963 and settled back in Redlands. She positively affected the lives of many children, by teaching at Crafton, Franklin, Mission and Mariposa Elementary Schools throughout her thirty year plus teaching career. She retired from the Redlands Unified School District in 2003. She enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, working out at the gym, travelling, and playing cards. She was an avid Dodgers fan. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Bill Allan. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Winn, her son John Winn (Gayle), her grandchildren Michael, Nathan and Carli, her best friend of over fifty years Barbara Slayback, her sisters-in-law Mary Allan and Susan McKee, her nephews, nieces, and numerous friends. A Celebration of Life is planned for June 12, 2021. The family encourages donations to the Alzheimer's Association or AK Smiley Public Library.
