I recently heard of Sam's passing. He coached me in the pole vault at UR and I had the pleasure to coach with him in his final couple of years coaching. I loved his approach to the vault and the way he interacted and helped everyone he coached. I especially liked hearing stories of his vaulting days. He was such a great guy and someone who really made UR feel like a special place to be. I always felt proud to have been coached by him.
