Bob Samuelson Obituary

Bob "Sam" Samuelson, 81, Emerson, died Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.
Bob was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Red Oak, the son of Russell Otis and Georgia Maxine (Perkins) Samuelson. He was raised in Red Oak, graduating with the class of 1952. He worked for the Iowa State Patrol until 1956, when he went to work for Central Surveys in Shenandoah. He married Arlene Jones July 19, 1967, in Ralston, Neb. They lived in Emerson for many years. Bob retired after more than 50 years of employment with Central Surveys.
Bob was very active in the Masonic Lodge. He held membership in Montgomery Chapter #57, R.A.M. Hiram Council #30, Royal and Select Masons, Bruce Commandery #34, Knights Templar all of Red Oak; 32 Degrees in Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J., Tangier Shrine Temple of Omaha; the Botna Valley Shrine Club, the Mobile Nobles, and Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge #1304, Red Oak Country Club, the Fuzz That Was, and was a Colonel in the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. He loved reading and his dog "Chico."
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law, Jack Wells; and nephew, Russell Ray Wells.
Survivors include his children, Lisa Sowers and husband Jeep, Henderson; Jennifer Burke and husband Dennis, Stanton; and Kim Euken, Red Oak; grandchildren, Gabrielle Sowers. Stanton; Katelynn Sowers, Malvern; Lauren Burke, Stanton; Alix Carlson and husband Tony, Red Oak; and Jazmin Euken, Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Ella and Boyd Carlson, Red Oak; brothers, Russell Samuelson and wife Winn, Red Oak, and Marion Samuelson, Santa Rosa, Calif.; sisters, Joanne Wells, Eastaboga, Ala., and Vicki Kosina, Mount Vernon; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in Bob's name.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
