Randall Vanderhoof Obituary

Randall Lee "Randy" Vanderhoof, 69, Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Randy was born Oct. 2, 1952, in Red Oak, the son of Billy and Carolyn (Briggs) Vanderhoof. He was raised in Red Oak, graduating from Red Oak High School in 1970. He started working for Cliff Houtchen's Body Shop and then was drafted into the U.S. Army.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Gohlinghorst on July 16, 1971. He later married Carolyn Magnuson-Fouts on Dec. 15, 1978, in Omaha, Neb. Randy started his own body shop in 1982 where he continued working until the end, alongside his son, Chad. Retirement was never part of his plan, rather focused on helping the next person in line.
He was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene, where he was a Trustee and served on the board. Randy was also a member of the Red Oak Chamber of Commerce and Farm Bureau. Randy was a proud contributor to many organizations locally. Randy had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and camping. He cherished time spent with his family and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Through the years he loved watching local athletic events as well as Hawkeye and Kansas City Chiefs football on TV.
Preceding him in death was his father, Bill Vanderhoof.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Vanderhoof of Red Oak; children, Chad Vanderhoof and wife Lori of Red Oak; Angela Vanderhoof of Red Oak; Bryan Fouts and wife Julie of Red Oak; and Kristy Cooper and husband Josh of Elkhorn, Neb.; 17 grandchildren, Nicole Hughes and husband Bill, Cameron Vanderhoof, Randi Vanderhoof, Savanna Abraham, Josie Vanderhoof, and Alex Adolphson, all of Red Oak; Jordan Johnson and husband Kyle of Elliott; Blaire Gade and fiancé Dan Livingston of Griswold; Paige, Cody, Bailey, Nicholas, Riley, Ethan, and Addison Fouts of Red Oak; and Alivia and Brooklyn Cooper of Elkhorn, Neb.; nine great-grandchildren, Brody, Bently, Ali, Zane, Owen, Kase, Brantley, Adaline, and Ella; mother, Carolyn Vanderhoof of Red Oak; sister, Cathy Jones and husband Marty of Carbon; brothers, Rod Vanderhoof of Red Oak and Reggie Vanderhoof of Griswold; brothers-in-law, Daryl Magnuson of Carbon, and Donald Magnuson and wife Vicki of Bellevue, Neb.; sister-in-law, Kathy Powers and husband John of Red Oak; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
