DAVID GESKE Obituary
DAVID GESKE
David Merle Geske, 64, of Spicer passed away unexpectedly at his home. Born on August 2, 1961, in Redwood Falls to proud parents Lorance and Ollie (Wilson) Geske, Dave was the only son and the middle of five siblings. From a young age, he developed a deep love for sports, a passion that would stay with him for life.
Dave graduated from Wabasso Public School in 1979, where he excelled in football, wrestling, and track, and also found joy in the theater. He continued both his education and football career at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.
For over 20 years, Dave worked as a retail sales manager at Menards in Willmar, where his problem-solving mind and practical skills earned him a reputation as a true "MacGyver." He was known for always having a solution, a song, or a story ready. A lover of karaoke - Margaritaville was his signature song - Dave also took pride in his skills at the grill. His legendary pork roast and ribs will be missed by many.
A lifelong fan of Minnesota sports, Dave found joy in cheering on his favorite teams, golfing with friends, and most of all, spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was the quintessential "fun uncle" - creative, playful, and always present. In recent years, that same playful spirit extended to his great-nieces and great-nephew, who delighted in the magic "Uncle Davey" brought to every moment.
Dave is survived by his beloved mother, Ollie Geske of Willmar; his sisters: Jill Anderson of Hutchinson, Lori (Gary) Kruggel of Winthrop, Kris (Lee) Parkinson of Belle Plaine, and Beth (Mike) Gaffney of Redwood Falls. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Stephanie (McKoy) Rodning, Corey Kruggel, McKenzie (Reed) Smith, Logan Parkinson, Kelsey Gaffney, and Emma Gaffney; and great-nieces and nephew: Beckett, Kamdyn and Hunter Rodning.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lorance Geske, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There is nowhere else Dave would rather have his life celebrated than at the very place he spent so much time with his buddies - the Marshall Country Club. Please join the family in honoring his life on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. at 800 Country Club Dr, Marshall.
If you're unable to make the celebration of life, the family hopes you will celebrate Dave's life by doing what he loved most - grill some meat, golf a round, sing a song, root for a Minnesota team and savor every moment.
