Maxine Wyffels Obituary

MAXINE WYFFELS Mass of Christian Burial for Maxine Wyffels, 85, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 - 7 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 - 10 a.m. at the remembrance center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Maxine Anne (Lozinski) Wyffels was born on July 13, 1937, in Marshall to Edward and Mary Ellen (Breyfogle) Lozinski. She grew up in Taunton, attended country school and graduated from Minneota High School. Maxine lived in Minneapolis for a time where she worked for an insurance company. On January 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Lawrence "Bud" Wyffels at Sts Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. The couple lived in Columbus, Ga., then Marshall for a time before making their home on a farm near Minneota. They farmed and raised their family until moving to Marshall in 1989. Maxine worked for HSI for many years. She was an advocate for people with disabilities. She was an active leader of 4-H and, later, was active with People First. She was also very involved with MS and Parkinson's Support Groups. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she was active with Renew, taught CCD and participated in other church activities. Maxine enjoyed playing cards, dancing and crafting. She was most fond of time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2018, Maxine moved to Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls, and in 2019 she moved to Garnette Gardens Assisted Living in Redwood Falls. Maxine died on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Garnette Gardens Assisted Living in Redwood Falls, surrounded by family and God's love. She is survived by her children Kevin (Tammy) Wyffels of Cottonwood, Laure (Bruce) Verdoes of Redwood Falls, Kathie (Kenton) Sonnenburg of Montgomery, daughter-in-law Kristie Wyffels of Moorhead; grandchildren Eric Winson, Justin (Alaina) Winson, Jerrid Winson, Jon Wyffels, Sarah (Lee) Swanson, Ryan (Karen) Bohn, Rhea Wahl, Matthew (Bria) Verdoes, Christopher (Darion) Verdoes, Kyle (Claire) Sonnenburg, Kesha Sonnenburg; great-grandchildren Soren, Amelia, Caelan, Londann, Ledger, Beckett; siblings Margaret Doom, Rose Doom, Marcella (Marvin) Van Keulen, Michael Lozinski, Kathleen (Ray) Rogers, Edward (Vicki) Lozinski, Tom (Carol) Lozinski; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence "Bud", son Allan Wyffels, grandsons Jacob Wyffels and Nicholas Verdoes, great-grandson Everett Winson, brother Thomas Lozinski and three children in infancy Lawrence, Joseph and Maxine.
