Ann Pearce Obituary

Ann Outlaw (Greer) Pearce Winterville - Ann Outlaw Greer Pearce, 80, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the Crystal Coast Hospice House. She lost her battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a rare neurodegenerative disorder.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 5:00 PM the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, Greenville, officiated by her pastor, Rev Marty Warren. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday from 3:30 until 4:45 PM .

Ann was born in Hertford County where she lived her early life. She was a graduate of Aulander High School, Class of 1962, and later in life she returned to school receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing from Pitt Community College. As a young adult she made her home in Greenville and later moved to Winterville, where she was an active member in Calvary Temple Independent Pentecostal Holiness Church. Earlier in life, Ann played the piano and sang for church and other events for many years.

Following her nursing education she was employed as a nurse at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, retiring from Vidant in 2010 and later taught for Pitt Community College for about 8 years.

Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Greer, parents, Brody and Trolie Outlaw, sister, Betty Lou Clark, and her niece, Sandra Faye Outlaw.

She is survived by her husband of more than 59 years, Mahlon Pearce of Winterville; son, Thomas Dwayne Greer of Kinston; daughter, Heather Pearce-Shew and husband, Dan, of Cedar Point; grandson, Thomas D. Greer II and wife, Rachel, of Greenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Pitt County Animal Shelter, 4550 County Home Road, Greenville, 27858.
