David Seeman Obituary

David Maurice Seeman
GREENE COUNTY - Mr. David Maurice Seeman, 77, passed away the evening of Thursday, November 28th, 2024, at ECU Medical Center.
Born to Frances Seeman, David grew up in Pennsauken NJ where he attended Pennsauken Schools. David was an outstanding athlete. At Pennsauken High he set records in the shotput and discus, started Nose Guard and Offensive Tackle of the State Championship football team and was a championship wrestler. He attended Massanutten Military Academy and played football there as well. He earned an athletic scholarship to Kanas State and played football for one year before learning the university had cut the industrial technology program and that several of his friends had died in Vietnam. David changed his draft classification from II-S to 1-A and was drafted soon after serving '69-'70 13 months and 22 days in country with the 1 st Logistical Command driving trucks out of Long Binh and in Guard Tower Juliet. Upon his return he worked installing pools and at Laura's Fudge in Wildwood, NJ where he met the mother of his children Elaine. He attended Glassboro State College (now Rowan) and earned his Bachelor of Industrial Technology Education. He moved to Farmville NC in 1977 to teach industrial technology and coach football at Farmville Middle School. After buying land in Greene County he, his wife, and her nephew built a passive solar home where they raised two children Ben and Lauren and their own food organically. He earned a Master of Science in Industrial Arts Education at ECU. A dedicated teacher he retired, selling back a year and half of sick days. In his retirement David enjoyed woodworking, organic gardening, his animals, walking in the woods, living on his land, and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sisters, and brother.
He is survived by his children Ben and Lauren, sister Loretta, and his many nieces and nephews and cousins.
There will be a visitation held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 from 5-8pm for friends, family, and all those he taught, coached, or inspired.
